We're aware that people are using the autopricer to set a very low price and buy up the resulting autopriced items and are discussing and working on code fixes for this. Please don't report low price points being bought out in the meantime, we know that this is a negative user experience and are working on it but it is going to have to be something handled on the code level. Thank you!

No, we won't be punishing people who buy the lower-priced items when they see them!
Some of that is multiple copies of items from battling, they add up after a while.
It is not so much that you aren't allowed to do it as that it's a negative user experience over time and we as staff will be looking into tools overall to try and improve the entire situation. In the meantime we did want to let people know this is on our radar especially since people with good intentions can take that to heart. Thank you for changing things up when you see it's making things less fun! It's always about living and learning.

We are not going to police how many copies of items people have in their shops, that is out of scope of the pricing concerns and there are legitimate ways someone can get multiple copies of even rare items. However, if you are specifically worried that they have acquired that many items through means against site TOS, please make a ticket with those particular concerns and that can be investigated.
You are not required to distribute your purchases, although I think your fellow Subetans would be grateful if so!
That's normal business behavior, honestly, even in the real world people do sales.
To be clear, this is about overall Subetan experience and using coding to manage that rather than punitive measures. As witnessed by the responses in this thread, from people who weren't doing it for negative purposes to people worried about buying items even when they didn't set the deflationary price or if it's from a shop with multiples, judging users is also going to hurt people who are just using the site and responding organically. A policy that specifically calls for punishment for lower pricing or item count in a shop is going to create stress on people who typo prices, for instance, or potentially make them worried about using a site feature because pricing their items at ten percent off for faster selling could become a point of anxiety and second-guessing. We are going to be handling this through code because we want less friction between users, not more.

This thread is to inform people that we are aware of concerns with the autopricer, and specifically coding to handle pricing swings is being looked into. Please do not report purchases or purchasers of underpriced items in the meantime!
I'm going to lock this thread for now, but will post with more information as we develop it.

In addition to this thread being locked, please remember the site's rules regarding targeting other users:
While is fine to discuss the behavior of another user, you cannot mention a specific user by username or identify them in an obvious way, blocked or not. This is also against the Community Guidelines, and staff will step in when users are being targeted since we want playing on the site to be a positive experience for everyone.
And as mentioned above, please do not report purchases or purchasers of underpriced items!
