Baking - I bake when not lazy - I want to get to the highest level for what's released. I'd bake more if progress was more clear (how many pts per item when complete or total points to the next level like Alchemy shows). The vagueness of the % bar just annoys me into not continuing lol. I had a whole gallery of baking items that I sold bc the % demotivated me, now I just do it randomly. I wish it could be set to remove from a specific gallery or shop or vault instead of inventory - I'd remove 1k+ items* (select all for each page & remove) just to get out enough of the required 5-6 ingredients to make the same thing x number of times. (*instead of account searching 15 varieties of vanilla, doing that for the 10 sugars etc.). Or have account search links on the page lol. Recent-ish (baking starter kit -> make whatever basic the kit provided for -> go back to get it eventually -> wait til I get another kit).
Alchemy - I much prefer Alchemy's "Your alchemy level: 27 Skill points to next level: 71" vs the baking % bar !! I enjoy crafting there if I need the wears/collection items etc. & decent for gifting; I don't do alchemy as much as I want to because I don't like wearing the skins that much & also all the clicking each tincture(s), token, etc. x however many I'm making (I'd try 50+ but too tedious) but I have hand problems so 🤷♀️. Would love to be able to craft multiple of the same thing at once if I have all the required quantities... I'm after the experience (skill points), not the items so mass creation would be nice. Have done this recently!
Scroll - made the expensive one I needed & have achieve tiers so I don't do crafting here much anymore, maybe if I want to make a scroll for one of my tiny battle pets.. not recently.
Genetech - mostly just crafting books for 2nd & 3rd battle pets when there are no new items released. Also decent to craft range of items to gift i.e. the MC stickers for the achieves, books. Weapons - as needed for achievements (or as required to get the better weapon)! Have done recently!
I tried baking a few times but gave up after a while. I'd set a timer for the exact amount of time left yet it was always burned no matter what. I think if any sort of crafting has a time limit, there's a grace period in there because baking seems to be pretty exact (from my experience) and thus frustrating.
Crafting would need new items added consistently to keep it interesting. A lot of feedback here seems to be "gets boring", "same items", and "tedious". In addition to consistent new content, perhaps have some items craftable during certain events.
I've made a bunch of scrolls but don't know anything about crafting anything else. Haven't heard about baking until this post. Is there a place to go and read about doing these things?
I really lost interest in most things, but whenever something new comes up for the Alchemist, I always craft those for myself and to sell. And if my friends want something and can't do it themselves, they buy the ingredients and I make it for them.
Honestly don't remember the last time I crafted anything. I think a lot of it is just repetitive and tedious to do but I think it also has to do with how the site is currently laid out. There's not currently a lot of benefit to doing the tasks required to craft over just buying the items themselves.
Sorry, it has been maybe a year since I last crafted and wasn't fond of the procedure. It just wasn't fun, and more work then fun. Glad you are working on it however but doubt will try much.
i play using a screen reader so most of the nuances of crafting are lost on me. i have tried fantine's bakery and made it to level 3, though. it would be easier to traverse the various recipes at fantine's if they were separated into 2 lists: ones available to your level and ones yet to be unlocked. it would also be nice to have a shop search button next to each recipe item to make obtaining the various items easier.
i find craffting scrolls problematic. obtaining the various scroll components and mashing them together is easy. what is problematic is that there are no explanations about anything that i can find. no explanations on how to use scrolls or which scrolls do what. yes, there is the forum but that is difficult to navigate when searching for a specific thing and not having a lot of time to read a whole 1k post threads.
i have no clue what to do with gene-tech. i can find no easy explanation besides an old recipes thread that simply tells me what to throw in to get what item. again, not easy to search and it's a long thread. so, unless i want to dedicate a day to simply reading the thread i'll remain ignorant.
i didn't even know we could craft weapons. enough said. 😆
For me it was a month or so ago? I ran out of new things in the bakery to make, so I was waiting for some new recipes to pop up.
It would be really cool if there were OTHER things that could be made besides baking though. Like themed foods around pets/holidays and such.

I don't think I've crafted anything in a while. If I'm really bored I might do it for something different.... I have baked in the past, I got frustrated with it as items kept getting burnt no matter what I did. I've done the alchemy thing, but got bored with it. I used the Genetech lab when Major Drills had it for a quest and to get the achievement, plus also to get items I wanted, but now I usually just skip those quests. I find most of the scrolls are not worth it, and those that are it's tedious to gather the ingredients for, though I have created some in the past.
Hmm... I got into zombie alchemy a few years ago; but stopped due to getting tired of paying for tokens & having to use a zombie skin. I kinda just... don't mess with any of them anymore period tbh.
It certainly hasn't been recent!
I think the thing that's holding me back is a) remembering to do it and b) the ease of accessing the materials. I'm not saying they have to be easy, but when there's a lot of ingredients needed (thinking of baking or scrolls), I will get some of them and forget about getting the rest of them. Alchemy doesn't have a lot of ingredients but I like to grab several in case I get doubles and there's also a lot of bloat because most of the item cards for the wearables... don't do anything. We can't craft earrings with Alchemy but we have the item card and it's a tease.
Lastly, most of these feel half finished or neglected. I will bring up all the item cards that we can't use in Alchemy again. I get have the item cards ready for when the artists do release something but we don't get new Alchemy items often, so it just feels like we will never have a use for all of them. When is the last time we got new genetech combos or scrolls to make?
I used the Genetech last week for food. In the same breath, I never craft (never bake, make books, scrlsetc) because depending on the item, its's expensive and time consuming.
I find crafting very frustrating on subeta. You have to basically already know what items make what and it can get confusing, So personally I never do unless I know its cheaper then have to go and find a cheat sheet somewhere to discover the items needed to do so. It and fragging are my two least enjoyed things on subeta
I don't think you need to do a big redesign of how things are crafted on the site. I think that the main problem is that at least from a battle/scroll standpoint 99% of the crafted items just aren't good.
I think if there was one thing that I would change about something like the Stable Smithy weapons would be that they require more numbers of ingredients.
It seems like a pretty constant on the site that even r99 restockable items will trend towards 60-70K, but making good items with much larger crafting recipes like the scroll recipes would let you create more items that will trend towards the 3-20mil price range like scrolls.
Making recipes take more raw material would also make it more of a choice about what to craft and what to not craft.

I use the Genetech often, scrolls I gave up on with the cost of some of the items and the amount to try and get from the npc shop. baking I normally only do during fireside. I do use Vanya for the toys. I use the Frag to crystals most often.

I love crafting! :D
I'm a bit of an alchemy nut and have both a gallery and a pet (a guide I'm working on right now!) dedicated to it. I craft those type of items with some frequency, though I've slowed down a bit recently since reaching level 50.
I do baking a few times a week and made a resource for myself to help wrangle items, since I find the system a little cumbersome. (The philosophy behind it is clever and intuitive, but item selection in practice is a bit fiddly.)
I like being able to craft scrolls, but it's something I rarely do, as I also find it cumbersome. I forget which items I need as reagents, and just end up hoarding a bunch until I eventually realize I have enough to craft something.
Genetech is pretty cool, but I only do it for Drills quests (and if I'm seeking to craft something there in particular, I'll wait until I have one of those quests to do it, lol). It would be neat to see more item combinations added!
p.s. I last crafted something (alchemy and baking!) yesterday.

[/box]I haven't crafted for a while. Though I like it, with it spread out I forget about some of the opportunities once I get focused on life.....sigh...I'm pitiful :)

I baked something just a few days ago. I would like to see some more recipes for Fantine's.
I did craft some scrolls quite a long time ago, seems the ingredients are too expensive for my cheap old self for the ones I want... and I know, that's on me. :)
RIP Mom, I love & miss you more than you know. Tell Dede hi.
Ocean Conservation Namibia on YouTube... they do good work! https://www.ocnamibia.org
I rarely use the crafting, only the alchemist on occasions.

Sometimes I will try when new items are released. I like the idea of crafting but I'm not as focused on that just yet compared to finishing collections (books, plushies, beanbags & eating food). I've combined some flowers for bouquets, made some PCs, baked some things and crafted the wardrobe, book, plushie or beanbag items using dyes (which of course I'm drawing a total blank on the name/place).
I don't like not knowing what items can be used to make things. I don't like the user prices for the items and how quickly they disappear in the shops, if they even show up. I'm also not a fan of having to try to stalk shops to get these items either.
I like achievements associated with the crafting and some of the items you can craft (again collection items & wardrobe).
