I wish to rid myself of this meaningless, weak, and useless notion that is romantic love. It has never helped me, and I will see that it never will. Too human for that...

Four more months... No more lies.

It sparked this question : Have you given up on people, or ever considered it?

Today's question:

What are the biggest changes that happened in your life in the last 2.5 years?

If anyone has more random question ideas, please feel free to share them with me <3 Don't forget to join the official ping group below :)

My personal answer:

OH MY GOD!! HELLOOOOOO!! 💚 I hope lots of people from back then as well as new people will join this thread!! It's been forever! I recently returned to subeta and realised that I really missed the random question talk with you guys. I honestly loved reading about your opinions, preferences or experiences. If possible, I'd love to resurrect this thread. So please please please, send me lots of questions so we can keep this going! ☀

So here is my actual life update: Back in January 2022, I used to study marketing and work part time in a secondhand shop, used to be in a relationship and had moved in with my parents again due to the pandemic. During those 2.5 years time I worked in online marketing for a FMCG company, I lived in Düsseldorf, I broke up with my boyfriend, I quit marketing all together (very tough decision, took me ages to finally go through with it), started working in a special education school, enrolled in university to become a special education teacher and moved to Cologne. I'm living with 2 flatmates, am single and life has been treating me quite well, I know how blessed I am for the privilege I have and the support I get from the people in my life. My sister moved back to Germany from Canada after 5 years and it seems like we are finally getting along. It was really difficult when we were kids/younger, but she started confiding in me, valuing my opinions and trusting me with her most precious cat Luna (gotta show you some pics next time)

Now tell me everything that's been going on in your lives! I can't wait and I really hope you still feel like doing this! Let's hope to keep this rq thread going for a little while longer than last time. ^^'

This is my first time on this thread, but definitely awesome to hear that life has been nice to you, ! Always nice to hear about siblings reuniting and getting along!

The last 2.5 years of my life have been pretty wild. It all started when I moved across the country (from Pennsylvania, USA to Arizona) on a whim for work; I applied to the job for funsies and never imagined that I would have actually gotten the position. Since moving across the country, I've met my wonderful boyfriend, got a proper diagnosis about my mental health, and I am almost out of the crippling debt that I had gotten myself into for the last 10+ years. Come November I'll be completely debt free and I've been in debt the last 13 or so years, with only myself to blame of course. It'll be great and I am so excited for the future. :)

Wow has it really been over two years?

I got a job at Goodwill, I adopted four more dogs (it's too many for my small house and there have been song issues, but they're all still my furry children), my finances are tanked (California is EXPENSIVE and though I got a raise, prices keep going up!), and uhhh that;'s about it.

I'm glad you're getting along better with your sister, and congrats on leaving your old industry for something you'll (hopefully) love! That can't have been easy. I'm trying to get a new job too, but it's so hard to get out of retail when it's been all I did for my entire working life.

Zo far the biggest change has been nearly completing the automotive course mine began in '19/20. This was acheived during the beginning of the pandemic, the death of mine mum, and repeated relapses of this bloody bad habit that still plagues mine.

This Avgust marks the final semester before completion, three classes, and some temporary changes to allow the process.

Mine does not gknow what to do after the possible successful finale. That's the nest stage in mine life sentence...

Welcome back! I saw the notification pop up and went 'omg, I completely forgot about this thread!' Glad you're doing well now! :)

At the end of 2022 I handed in my resignation at my job, and launched out on my own. I do the same work, I'm just now my own boss, and it's honestly been really, really great! I make significantly more money, I can cancel certain awful weather days, and just generally avoid the grapevine of relaying information because it's just me people are dealing with. I also got a new vehicle at the end of May and retired my old one (got it detailed, and it's now just a bumming around car for when I don't want to drive the dog mobile). I've also really gotten into mechanical keyboards in the last year. I'm not super knowledgeable about them or anything really, but I love customizing them with different switches and keycaps.

I've gotten really into gaming now. I started playing Minecraft and I became confident in playing other games. Before that I tended to just play Pokemon.

I think it was around 2.5 years ago when I finally got back into therapy. Which is really great as I do need to get another perspective.

I published the first book in my Kafka's Men series (a Reverse Harem* series).

 • = A romance subgenre.

I forgot all about this! Welcome back!

Hi - welcome back! :D Glad to hear it sounds like things are going well for you!

I always enjoyed answering the random questions so I'll try to get back into this but hopefully be a little less cringe than I used to be (no guarantees lol).

"What are the biggest changes that happened in your life in the last 2.5 years?"

At the beginning of the year, I finally moved out of the crappy, run-down, spider- and rodent-infested house I was stuck in for over a decade, and saved up enough to purchase a cozy lakefront condo that I can actually keep clean and decorate and it's wonderful. I used to try to tell myself I liked the old house because it looked spooky and haunted lol and because my great grandparents built it, but it's nice not having to rationalize living in a dump anymore. Only the upstairs was livable there and it got sooo hot in the summer. At my new place, I can open the sliding glass door on the lake side and the big window at the other end and a cool breeze blows through even on 90-degree days (which is really fortunate because this whole summer has been nothing but nearly 90-degree days). My cat, Moon, is enjoying all the birds there are to watch (there's hilarious goose drama on the lake every morning, multiple species of ducks, songbirds, swans and even an otter that lives in the lake and pops up now and then) and my mental health has improved a lot now that I'm not living in such depressing conditions.

Cat tax

Right as I was in the process of moving, my job changed too. I still work for the same company but the location I was working at suddenly closed down so now I do something slightly different somewhere else. It's not as good and it pays less but it's not the worst and I can get by (barely), so it's ok.

I guess there have been other changes in my life recently but they've been more subtle... those were the big ones!

Today's question:

Which house chores do you like/dislike?

My personal answer:

Hello!! I was sooooo happy to see so many of you coming back, some of my OGs, my day 1s, it truly warmed my heart to see you guys again haha <3

Now to my answer: today's question was brought to you by ✨ adulting ✨ There are actually chores I like, namely cooking, doing the laundry, changing my sheets, sometimes even ironing but there are also chores I absolutely DETEST. Trigger warning!! Unclogging the drains. These hair clogs literally make me gag. I know that it's my own hair and it used to be on my head until not too long ago, but as soon as it's in my drains I have to really pull myself together not to throw up. Other things I don't really like doing are mopping the floor and cleaning the trash can. Everything else is just...chores. I am forced to do them but it's not super annoying.
Welcome! It's always great to see new faces! c: Thank you for your kind words! Oh wow that sounds super exciting! I'm so happy for you that everything has been going so well for you! I'm so glad that you took the chance and just applied for the job! Hope the future will be just as bright for you! ^^

Heyyy thank you for your kind words and I was so happy when I saw your familiar username :) Congrats on the new job! But if you are trying to find something else, I'm rooting for you! Is there a different industry you would like to go in? And what are the names of your pets? 😍 I really hope everything will work out in your favour!

Hey there love, I'm soooo happy you are still around! <3 Congrats on the new job! What field is it in if I may ask? :) and congrats on the enrollment as well! Did you have to move for the uni you enrolled in to get the MBA? :)

Hey it's really good to see you back as well! ^^ Wow! I'm rooting for you, you almost made it! ^^ I'm sure you will find your way to continue on your path, you always did! :)

Hey there! Glad to see you back and thank you! ^^ That's sounds amazing! How cool that you took that scary step to become self-employed! I'm glad it's working out so well for you. Uh I'd love to see your current customised keyboard! What's the theme you are going for?

Good to see you again! ^^ and thank you hehe Wow! Congrats on publishing your first book! I hardly read (which I'm trying to work on) but maybe one day I'll find the time to read your book series ^^ And going back to therapy is amazing, too! <3

Oh my gooood! It will really take some time for me to get used to the new username haha, but the new one is really cool as well. I'm really really glad you came back! ^^ Why do you say it was cringe what you wrote?! I always LOVED your answers because you really took time to answer them honestly (I assume)! I still remember that funny Russia vodka pickle story or that one time you met Rammstein (a bit more controversial topic nowadays, but I am really glad you had such a lovely time with TL back then ^^)! I was kinda sad when I saw that you deleted all your answers :( And congrats on moving out and feeling better mentally! I'm super happy for you! It must be so nice to have the lake with it's fauna right in front of you! You catto is sooooo adorable 😍 I'll see if I can upload a picture of my sister's cat Luna so that I'm not evading the cat tax haha. I hope your job is really fine, would you prefer to do something else? And if you would like to share the more subtle changes in your life, I'd love to listen :) don't feel compelled to share though ^^
ALL OF THEM, housework is of the devil! I don't mind dishes, though, I find it kind of therapeutic. I don't mind sweeping, but I HATE vacuuming. I hate the noise and the smell and all the dust it kicks up, ugh.

Thanks! I've been in retail my entire working life and I reeeeally want to get out of it. It's crushing to the soul and the body! I really want a nice office job where I can work Monday-Friday, 9-5, sit at a desk in a nice, air-conditioned office. But with very little office experience (and that is 25 years old), no one wants to give me a chance, so it's hard, WFH work would also be great but it's hard to find work there as well, especially non-phone.

Here are my children The dogs' names are Maz (Doberman), Velvet (tan pit bull), Moxxie (scruffy mutt), Haze (gray pit bull) and Button (tiny creature - he's a chihuahua/mini poodle mix).

mine favorites are car maintenace, firewood splitting/cutting and cleaning/organizing the Superfund site that is mine tool room.

On the flip side, mine detest cleaning the pet's mess. Al the small dogs mine imhereted are not house trained, tho it seems they all chose a room to make said mess.
Mine will toot this achievment one last time, under car work mine had resolved the issue with the engine. The problem was that the timing chain had skipped a tooth after the tensioner gave out.

Mine changed out the chain, tensioner, guides and fortunately kept the correct alignment for the crankshaft and camshafts. It runs much quieter and with almost no vibration. Now mine tackling the EVAP issue, the problem may have been just a missing line retainer. Mine will gknow soon enough.

Worst chore is hands down: laundry.

It takes up so much time and it never ends. It's a constant fight of getting the clothing clean and then putting them away. My house flooded so luckily I don't have to worry about it for a little bit.

I have four birds and keeping up with them is fun. Though keeping up with the bird drama can get exhausting.

Thanks :)

I'd love to hear what you think :)

Nearly ready to release the 7th book. All that's left is to make the cover :)

Chores, ugh. I don't mind sweeping too much, though I hate that it's a never ending job with two cats, one of which is long-haired. I HATE dishes. Like, with a hellfire level passion. I didn't mind so much when we had a dishwasher, just had to rinse after using and toss in the machine, but hand washing? That's a big fat NOPE. I enjoy dusting the collection of figures we have. Dusting flat surfaces and everything else is meh, though. I don't mind laundry, either, and ironing was My Thing when my beau had to have pressed coats for work. I don't have to press coats anymore, though, and the beau has taken over laundry duty since it requires driving to a coin-op place. (I miss having my own washer and dryer. ;w; ) I still do plenty of the folding, though!

Ah, shoot, I forgot to come back for a bit and came back to new question ping notifications! Also, welcome back!

Technically it's past the first one now, but I'm answering anyway! Life changes in the last 2.5 Years: Well...closer to 3 years ago really, I got the job of my dreams working at the public library, 2.5 years ago specifically I was promoted from a part time library clerk to a full time library specialist (which at my library is just the term for someone who works at both the circulation desk and also the reference desk) and, as part of the job, I also became a notary. I've also gained a lot of cool friends (well...a small, tight-knit group more so), and have been slowly learning Irish with one of the friends and I've also beem going to the gym fairly regularly for around 6 months and have had a (pretty unsuccessful) Etsy shop for around 8 months. Though I'm pretty bad at running it and at making/photographing more items so that's definitely part of the problem...

And for the current question... Chores I like: laundry, I find it somewhat relaxing tbh and it gives me time to work on other projects since the apartment complex laundry room is in the basement so I just sit down there while I do laundry since it's easier than going back and forth between the third floor, plus I don't trust my neighbors tbh

Chores I don't like; washing the dishes no reason, I just hate doing them

I don't really have a particular keyboard theme I go for tbh lol, I'm a big fan of anything cute keycaps-wise (I have a lot of cat/rabbit/dog themed ones). I enjoy pastels, and keyboards that sound nice and clacky or creamy.

As for chores, I don't mind doing laundry, or just generally tidying up. I really hate doing dishes/drying them - if there's a dishwasher, I am going to be using it so I don't have to clean my dishes hahaha! I don't love vacuuming, but at the same time it's also quite satisfying to get all the fur off the floor.

Which house chores do you like/dislike?

Probably the worst chores for me are the ones that I have to go outside to do, e.g. grocery shopping, particularly for my lunches at work, it's such a pain to figure out what will make suitable cold boxed lunches every day, fit within my dietary preferences, be easy and convenient, not too expensive (why is Tofurky lunchmeat so much ugghhhhh) and not be something I get sick of eating day after day. Also taking the trash out because I have to walk it across the parking lot to the dumpster and hope the bag doesn't break. Doing laundry isn't too bad because the laundry building is right across from my unit and I kind of even enjoy folding it when I get it back to my place.

I don't mind dishes now because I have a dishwasher but that was the WORST without a dishwasher. The catbox isn't too bad because I discovered "tofu litter" and it's less messy, clumps well, and I scoop it at least twice a day so it doesn't get gross. Vacuuming is kind of a bother because my vacuum is really bulky and the switch is broken but at least my place is tiny and doesn't get too dirty, just a few bits of cat litter and fur get scattered around. The bathroom is small and aside from the cat litter doesn't take much to clean. I wouldn't say I love doing any chore but it does feel really nice now that I can do these things, which don't take long because it's just me and my cat in a small condo, and afterward my home is actually tidy and clean! That simply wasn't possible at the old house because every surface was ratty and grungy with over 100 years of wear and tear; it might be an unusual thing to think that being able to clean your home effectively is a privilege but it actually is and I appreciate it. So, umm...I kinda like all my household chores now. :D Except planning and shopping for my work lunches, eff that lol

SPOILER (click to toggle) Whoops! I forgot, I guess my username is also a change that happened in the last 2.5 years lol. I hope I didn't confuse you for too long with that. 😂 If it helps you remember/adjust, it's sort of related to my last username, in that both could be considered references to my love of the game Fallout (although the last one was more general while Synth is a direct reference to artificial humanoid beings in the game).

Oh man, I'm cringing all over again wondering how much I blathered on about either of those things lmao. What makes me feel cringey, I suppose, is the fact that I am so honest and probably overshare a lot. I will frequently get too excited to talk about something, go on for way too long about it, and then realize much too late that it probably wasn't very well-received. I'm really happy you've enjoyed my answers though so I'll try not to feel so awkward about it. :) Another problem is that, as you alluded to, so many of the things that are most meaningful to me have become controversial in some way. I feel like I can't openly share any of the things I love anymore without some sort of disclaimer, or simply accepting that a bunch of people will automatically think the worst of me. The world is just becoming so...so much. I'm tired.

Anyway, thank you! It is SO nice here with the lake! The amazing thing is that it was so cheap compared to other homes in the area. The condo is not too special on its own, and it's quite small with only one bedroom, but the view makes it extraordinary. I honestly would have been happy with a view of the backside of the neighboring building if it meant getting out of that dilapidated house so the lake was just a super lucky bonus!

Yeah, your cat tax is overdue, pay up! :P

My job is ok. It's about the best I can hope for in my situation, I'm just a lil sad that it changed because the previous client was awesome and the job was such a breeze. It really just spoiled me but my current assignment is easy too so I shouldn't complain. The main things I don't like about it are probably good for me in the long run anyway (more people interaction and working during daylight hours). I would rather be by myself in the dark, but having that be my life made me too melancholic so this is healthier for me lol

I've typed too much already so while I'd be happy to babble on about other changes, I'll wait and see if I can work them into a future answer. :)

SPOILER (click to toggle) I just had to tell you, your fur children are magnificent and that is a great photo! <3
