Some good news: the car my boss has lent me to drive is actually pretty nice aside from the cosmetic issues so I'm going to purchase it from him at a very fair price. The estimate for the body work repairs is...a lot but it's broken into three sections so I can work on repairing when I have the funds for each bit. And even so, I'm getting the car at a significant markdown from current value. So a major stressor is off the table.
Yeah, it's kind of a lucky deal because I know the car history and how it ended up with the cosmetic damage and it's not from an actual wreck or anything like that. It's a significant amount in repairs but it's still overall less than the car would cost from a dealer.

Thank you :) It's a lot less stressful than the rental was or searching for a car was. It needs some body work but I am not rushed.
