I think you've misread! The checkmark means you've unlocked that hairstyle. Clicking the hairstyle image will wear it, and clicking the hairstyle again will remove it.

Clicking the hairstyle image that you're wearing should remove it.

If you redeemed it, then you cannot remove it. Redeeming it in the salon is different than adding the wig to the wardrobe.
