Subeta just released more event prizes through the fancy box, so it really can't be called event-exclusive.
We each have our own opinions, and we probably won't agree on many points in this thread, but I won't take it personally about them. In fact, it's great to say what you have in mind.
Anyways, I do have a couple of those weapons and had no real stance for years. I didn't care about status, wearability, how much it should be priced at because I didn't intend to sell.
But more recently, the battle community is becoming an old breed and not a whole of new interest and retention remains. Besides CS and secret challengers, it hasn't gone through a whole lot of new changes. This is when I decided that there are many problems that need to get solved if the community were to survive, and that involves having to sacrifice some gains which the veterans had and enjoyed. Some seemed fair, some questionable. Like the event prizes which took a lot of time and effort to place in.
About this fancy box release, it didn't help the battle community with the poor optics. Even the public sees that after waiting for years the solution is a lootbox. They know other games with lootboxes, so can't fool them. What does this intend to do, and what is the result in the end? Even with the initial wave of small lootboxes restocked at random times, the questions are the same. Can we tell the public stoically, yes this is battling just work for it?
And I don't know how the news started changing topic to a battle guide, but I appreciate the battler's work on starting it. But honestly, like a musician you can play note like you battle but there's a difference when music theory gets involved, and the casual musician doesn't really want to dive into it yet, but still complains that music is complicated.
If anything, I wished these event prizes are just retired and never rereleased again - giving way to new items. But from what I've seen, that's not going to happen with everyone crying over them. Lootboxes, while not perfect, is a good way to rerelease them imo. The randomness gives incentive to trade while also preventing more desired items from flooding the market. If there is one thing I'd change: I would have introduced the boxes as prizes for a battle event, with hustler having a limited stock as a one time bonus.
I agree that the current state of battling isnt good. But the suggestion of making 'fake' line of weapon wearables just makes things worst.... moving more people away from battling. Why battle for a nice wearable when I can drop 100m at the MC for it with a click of a button?
Cheap knockoffs have always existed.

so on and so forth.
Making a cheap knockoff off the items in the godly box and free gifting it or including it in a 10K Huslter "Broken Fanciful Box" with unlimited supply sounds like a nice alternative to people who'd want to have a similar looking overlay. It couldn't look exactly the same obviously because that would be ridiculous, but it would look similar enough that you could still tell what it references.

Please keep the commentary to the suggestion it is presenting which is a similar overlay wearable. There is now a feedback thread in regards to the latest method of obtaining certain weapons. Feel free to continue it there respectfully. [Topic=920462]
Sorry.. Clearly I've stuck around the news comments for too long.
Back on topic, I support 'fakes' as long as they are tributes and sufficiently different in both item art and overlay. They shouldn't just be simple recolours either.
What I do not support is taking the existing overlays from the handful of rare weapons and turning them into wearable-only copies.
I want to say I support "knock offs", maybe in the same spirit as the items. Close but not exact. Maybe it doesn't have the shiny aura, or is bigger/smaller.. whatever.
I'm not a battler but I like weapons on my HA. I understand that staff maybe gave weapons some nice overlays to increase demand (and I'm sure there are many more battlers than just who got into battling due to nice overlays), but when there is such short demand it's not fair on either community.
