I would love to have a way to filter and search news posts. I’ve been keeping up on the news for the last few months, but I’ve had periods where I didn’t see it for months, or possibly even years, because I was only able to log in long enough to keep my account active. As someone else mentioned above, I’m sure there’s a huge percentage of users who don’t know about the change to pet names, because I could have easily been one of them.

Echoing the support for a better news system. I find it really hard to navigate even when I'm here almost every day.
When I have been off the site for a while, I actually go to SubetaLodge for the news I missed - at least at working 'next - previous' navigation is heaps better than 'recent weeks'. I just tap 'next' until I see something I've already seen.
I have hated the numbered weeks pagination system since the day I joined this site, omfg.
I would also love a better news system. It ties in to my old suggestion Forum Groups: Let me view the most recent pings from that group Tl;dr I was imagining a system where we could sort through the most recent pings from a ping group we were in, specifically so I could read all of the sitenews and siteupdate pings and find out what I missed while I was on hiatus. I'd love if a better news system could include all pings in these forum groups.
I'm in full support of more frequent newsletters! I like the idea of monthly, even if it's just kind of a rundown of the upcoming events or important updates (revamps, etc). It doesn't need to be ultra complicated. But even bi-monthly could work and be more than what's happening now. I was actually recruited for contributing to a newsletter at my day job and there's been a lot of positive feedback about it. I write one of the columns and it's a fun way to engage with people without being really overbearing. Has helped morale a lot with Everything going on.
In the "site features" thread I suggested that Subeta's social media sites become more active/informative, and I think this kind of thing ties into that. Engaging with users outside of the actual site is a good way to drive, well, engagement, and activity.
