I did consider that Esther could be one of the possessed challengers, but not actually DURING Vesnali, I thought it would be someone else from Veta, or someone from Centropolis instead because they usually do that around this time of year, or someone from an unspecified land.
Anyway, it turns out you get Esther as a challenger at Peka instead of Veta, which means that we could still have someone from Veta as a challenger at some point this year. Which means that my earlier prediction of Wesley could still happen (not sure what he would make, though), or Rosemary since even though she’s found in Peka, she’s Veta’s councillor.
Other guesses, in no particular order
I still think it will be Alexander for Centropolis, I’ve said before that he could make a book or something out of paper. And it would be interesting to see a pet get possessed, so far we’ve only had humanoid characters, (I still don’t know whether the NPCs of unspecified species are normal humans or not, and even some that have different features like pointy ears are hard to tell) one of which was unliving.
For Darkside it will most likely be Ian, but it could also be Confucius (from the original zapper) and either of them could make just about anything. If it is Ian, I think the possession will happen for a similar reason to Victoria and Garret, maybe he tries to come up with a way to prevent them from happening. I also wonder if this could end up being another two-for-one like they were, with Quentin helping (since they seem to have knowledge of possessions) and also ending up possessed, I know they’re already a challenger but then again, we did have 12 Blakes last year.
I’m not sure about Delphi. Chimalma doesn’t really make anything, and none of the Carnival NPCs have NPC accounts, but they could do what they did with Cinthia and have someone with an NPC account do the news post for the CS challenger with a message from them or something. They could make something related to fair rides. Maybe it will be the Wizard who makes the posts, since he enjoys going to the carnival, and also the Token Shop is there.
From the Omen Islands, I think it could be Babette or Bloodhungry, and they would make something food-related. I doubt it would be any of the Islanders, but I could be wrong. I don't know much about the Islanders.
Charity is the only NPC from Riverside who isn’t already a challenger, unless they decide to have it be Pete or Major Drills anyway, even though the art would be different if they use a modified version of their regular images (their battle images could do with a revamp or just being replaced with their regular images). I’m not sure what she could make though, it could be food again, or it could be something else that would be donated.
I think it could be Sephora or Qazim for the Sacred Lands, or both as another two-for one like Vic and Garret, but I’m not sure if they make anything. It could also be Laure, who makes spells (and she could also try to find a way to prevent possessions), but she doesn’t have an NPC account and I don’t know which NPCs she’s associated with who do.
I still don’t know what they’ll do for Shengui Guo. Maybe they just won’t include it, since they included both Peka Glade and Pina Park this year.
Other possibilities from unspecified lands include Anne (makes food), Jade (makes food), Joyce (makes craft stuff), Manwar (could make games), Nico (could make technology stuff), Rumi (could make art), Sarah (is known to make things for children), Tae (makes hair and beauty stuff), Dolly (could make sweets and stuff) Mattieu (could make jewellery), and Mauve (could make clothes).

You have great Intel for a T1 pet. You just need the beefy scrolls :p the low tiers go by really quick if you keep getting stats every day
You Won! You have defeated Prodigy. Because this was level 30 you earned 3500 experience!
Been a very long time since I've done my quests, and longer since I've done all 30! :D
Yeah, that's the plan. I'm just trying to figure out which scrolls are must-haves. A fair amount of information on the forums is old, so I'm unsure what still holds up. I poked around and THESOVEREIGN's guide looked solid, but, again, it has been two years since it was first posted.
I have Champion and Soothing Current already. I'm also considering getting a Morosbane (or more? I can add multiple copies of OPBs to a set, right?) soon as it'll be a while until I can earn a copy of it myself.
Beyond those, I'm mainly unsure which freezer(s) and blocker(s) to go for, but general advice is appreciated. If anyone's willing to assist me, I'd be super appreciative! I currently only plan to spend sP on battling and more Millionaire Center pet slots, so I don't mind burning a huge amount of sP now if it leads to a long-term investment that ages well or not at all.

Battling hasn't changed in many, many years so all the guides pretty much still hold true. I think the only new worthwhile weapon that his been released since then is slappy.
Yes you can add multiple copies of the same scroll if they are OPB.
Freezing and blocking scrolls you mean? Shriek of despair, psycho smasher, cold blast and strong stomp are all the best freezing scrolls. However, they are not great for low tier pets since you can't heal as much using them and your HP is a lot lower. It's better to have healers and blocking scrolls until you are strong enough to chain freeze opponents.
The best blocker is the void scroll but it costs 50AP to equip and not practical for most battlers. Spacial abyss I would say is the next best and costs 18 AP to equip. Cobalt eternal is the most affordable and only 8 ap each to equip. Sancturia exodin is similar but you need to make them at the shrine
Good luck! Battling is an expensive hobby
Oh, that's great to know! I can feel more confident scouring the forums for information, though it looks like you've already covered what I needed. And yes, I meant freezing and blocks scrolls. Apologies for the ambiguity there.
Thank you very much for the thorough explanation and for the wishes of luck! I'm fully braced for battling being expensive. It should be a lot less of a burden given I have little interest in collections, achievements, and wearables, but I see I'm in for a wild ride regardless. Boy, those prices!

Fortunately, some of the weapons you can get by beating opponents. There are still a lot that you will need to buy or what for site events in order to win, but you still have a long way to go before battling gets really expensive. Plenty of time to save your sP!
I would recommend using a lights of sprites scroll once your pet can win one. You need 200 wins on PSR, 200 wins on willowisp and 200 wins on eclipse to make the lights of sprites scroll, but it is a cheap scroll that is better than champion to get you by until you can get an aftershocks scroll.
Events coughing up some of the useful loot is understandable. Gives me something to look forward to while building up stats and sP, too.
As for LoSS, I've been grinding up the wins, but I'm not there just yet. Getting closer and closer every day!

That's the end for today! Ah, well. This was after skipping something even worse, too.
On the bright side, I've made great progress with power-ups and it's paid off: I'd been plateauing at level 5-7 before today. Hitting tier 2 has made a huge difference, and I should see even more of a speed-up soon now that I've (finally) activated my freebie 1-Week Gold Account Medal.

Keep up the great work! Do you have any of the secret challengers unlocked? There's quite a few easy ones to unlock for more exp!
Thanks, I will! Yep, I have a fair amount and have fought them a bit. I'll fight them more soon. I'll list the first 12 starting from the top for brevity:
On a semi-related note: Since I can't heal against Eclipse, my best bet is to use freezing, damaging, and blocking weaponry + scrolls, yes? The minus health/healing penalty is also turned off, yeah?
:dmg:light: Please ping me. :dmg:light:Best to do as much damage as you can. Eclipse and Coeli disable healing. If you have a Divine Denhize scroll it helps.
I thought as much. I don't have that scroll, but I did get a Morosbane before I posted, so we'll see how that goes.
:dmg:light: Please ping me. :dmg:light:
Yes any opponent that has healing disabled also means negative heal is also disabled.
Alright, thanks for the confirmation!
My first Morosbane is already putting in work. Those 40 attack icons and 300 healing really do easy opponents in! It's making it much faster to get experience and Easy Tokens.
Speaking of Easy Tokens, I'm accumulating a fair amount of those. Given that training stat-ups eventually soft cap, I should use all my tokens to buy stat boosters (unless I need them to make/buy gear and mod crystals) and use them only at that point, right?
