I know, I'm ... a few months behind on this one. I've got more, large updates about the site and how we're moving forward (we're figuring out ways to get people more involved, look for some stuff soon!) but for today I have the new salon preview here!

A few things to note:

• Your palette is persisted in your browser, so if you close the window and come back, they'll still be there. HOWEVER, if you clear your cookies, they'll vanish 👻. In the future these will be persisted to the server
• Any colors on your hair get put into your palette automatically
• You can not save an avatar on this preview, just because the new hair data hasn't been merged yet, so it wouldn't show up on the regular site

Otherwise, feedback and bug reports, please! I'll be making changes to it over the next week or two, and then launching it officially 🎉

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far! I just pushed out some immediate fixes that should make the experience a little smoother:

• The home page on the salon accurately shows if you've unlocked a hairstyle or not
• Removed the "remove hair" button as it's no longer useful, you can just remove them from the avatar

Still to fix:

• The vanishing palettes 👻
• Colors that you apply to one hairstyle either overwriting or changing another one
• General bugs that come from wearing 2+ hairstyles at the same time

And working on some general UX improvements. Thanks for testing so far ❤

🐛 You shouldn't have issues with the highlights vanishing when you go away from the hairstyle 🐛 You shouldn't have issues inputting hex codes

To come: 🎨 UI Update to the colors in the palette, so you can copy the hex code without accidentally removing it 🎨 UI tweaks with colors & how it looks like dark mode 🌚

Ahhh, sorry everyone, there was a lil miscommunicaton about this feature.

You can find it now here (we recently moved where our front end code is stored) and it should work.

We're very close to releasing this, so please let me know if you have any outstanding issues that make it impossible to use. Otherwise, we'll merge and then incrementally add to it!

Fixed: The broken image for Tea, and any other broken images. Likely related and also fixed: Broken hair styles that didn't work in Chrome or Firefox. Could you please check if any of them are still broken now?

What does "highlights showing up" mean? Like on the preview image of the hairstyle, after you add it to your avatar, or...? (Sorry, I just need a little more detailed description of where/how this is triggered!)

We are not sure about the Cloudflare thing. When you say you got a page, do you mean the entire wardrobe just.. changed to a Cloudflare error page? It would be great if you can screenshot it, if it happens again. However, it's likely that that is something to do with the beta testing server and that it won't happen once the changes are deployed to the real website.

If it's working on Firefox, then it's most likely browser cache. Try clearing your browser cache on Chrome. You might also try hard-refreshing (Ctrl+F5) on the Axis image: https://staging-api.subeta.net/v1/wardrobe/hairstyle/256.png

Alright, we're back! After some work together, and I were able to hopefully iron out the last remaining kinks.

Check it out on the staging site. I'm going to keep an eye on this thread, and 🤞🏼 merge this in tonight so that we can start making improvements on it once it's out.

It does not include the visual indicator for the highlights, but you can save your avatar now with these new hairs. We'll be making some small tweaks and improvements over the next few days.

Hey everyone, we noticed a problem with the new salon after it was deployed, so we reverted it a few hours ago (very shortly after it was deployed). Sorry for the lack of communication haha, we were both in a rush in between day job stuff. We are working on fixing the issue and will ping again once it's fixed and deployed :)

[edit] I'm actually gonna ping for this, just for visibility. There was a short window of time when this glitch may have caused broken avatars, though we rolled back the new UX pretty quickly. For about 3 hours afterwards, saving avatars/outfits was also broken because of this same glitch with the deploy. We've now rolled everything back so you can save avatars/outfits again now and everything should be working as it was before. We apologize for the frustrations!

If your avatar is a broken image due to this glitch, go into the wardrobe and click on the 'X' to remove any hair layers on your avatar, and then wear it - that should fix the issue. In the meantime, Keith and I are investigating what went wrong with the deploy, and we'll keep you updated! You can let me know if you have any other questions about this. Thank you <3

Alright, we're back again!

Check the staging site out again for the new version. Some things that should 🤞🏼 be resolved:

• Saving should work! Your avatar should show up afterwards!
• The styling on the 'no highlight' choice should now be more clear (big red X)
• Styling on the 'selected' ones should be more clear (and is a little visual cue i'm testing out here, give me feedback!)

And most of all, it should work the way you expect. If you go to a hairstyle, the colors should be automatically added to your palette, and selected. Thank you for being on the journey everyone 🤗

Thanks - I have a few questions to help investigate further. Is this the only saved outfit where the hairstyle isn't rendering on the image, or are ALL saved outfits with older hairstyles missing the image now?

If it's not all of them, do you happen to have an example of a saved outfit where the preview is loading the hairstyle correctly?

I can see the highlights are not being loaded for that saved outfit, but I'm not sure if it's because it's a legacy hairstyle, or that outfit in particular has always been glitched.

(I verified the highlights load correctly for hairstyles made and saved in outfits the new salon system.)

Could you be more specific? I need a little help triggering this problem from your account.

I just tried from your wardrobe, and I was able to save a new outfit, put on an item and save it again, wear a saved outfit and verified it all updates on site. I believe you are having a problem but there must be something more specific that's triggering it?

[edit] Oh okay yes - this is on the real site now! Staging will no longer work correctly.

Hmm, if you can remember the name of the hairstyle then I can check if you have earned it or not. You should be able to make outfits with hairstyles you haven't earned too (just won't be able to wear them on site)
