No doubt. I have only ever been hacked twice. It wasn't on neo though, had all my items stolen on gaia, then had an entire account deleted on an RP site.

I'm still on Neo and not just for the sake of nostalgia. As with all changes on that site, there will be users who rage quit, there will be users who lose interest, and users who just stop logging in. Yep, the site overall is a complex mess right now but that happens when you have new coding mixed in with old coding. I remember when the user interface changed the first time around and when the conversion of the pets took place, it was chaos. There are many boards that you really do not want to venture into anymore though, such a shame. I mainly move between the NC Chat and the Customization boards. I've been on Neo and this site for more than a decade. You take the changes for what they are and either move on or stick around. With my personality, I'll see what the future holds in store for Neo and go from there.

You'd expect as a system who has based a lot of collective identity on petsites we'd have played Neo more, but we've been struggling to get into it for years. Our interest in petsites only ignited in 2019 and we barely played Neopets when we were younger, so it feels like we've missed a lot of the heyday and we're not close at all to the nostalgic audience that's usually pushed.

Huh. I actually logged into my Neo account and I have a pet that I don't remember having, so it's safe to assume that my account was breached. Strangely, they left my Christmas Paintbrush in my safety deposit box (I guess that the hacker was anti-Christmas) and I can't even remember if I have/had anything else to be sad about losing. I remember joining Subeta when there was an ad on Neo for it: Never regretted clicking on that banner:)

That site where NC and merch is priority and not the site where users donate for in the first place and if they are 'fixing' things it's at the speed of a snail. It's sinking.

I tried to get on neo again when I heard about the unconverted pet stealing (waaah my babies) and I couldn't figure out my login info, RIP. I made a new account and my old one seems secure, but the site is a total mess. I was really sad to see so many of their games are unplayable, they had been a high bar for on-site games for years in my mind. Compared to Subeta and Flight Rising, Neo really seemed on top of the world for games for a while- and now that's all come crashing down.

On the plus side, NeoQuest II still works so I started a new game of that, bahahahaha. My old-school butt could play that for hours.

I'm a fan of the site and have been for a long time, but that's a position that requires a high bullshit tolerance. It's tough to watch some of the decisions that get made by staff. There's so much potential, and the people in charge are so talented in making the wrong choices time and time again. The problem, in my eye, is that staff seems completely immune to user suggestion. But the IP is so solid that I'm not convinced neo will ever truly die.

Loving old pet sites just means you learn to tolerate a lot of dumb shit. But I've been playing that site since I was 10, so it is what it is.

I don't think I could ever go back to neopets, it's just such a hollow shell of what it used to be

i've been on there on-and-off since 2004... it's so sad what the site has become. i moved onto subeta recently because it was legitimately upsetting. neopets is dying a slow, completely avoidable death- it's maddening that they continue to fail to capitalize on the early 2000s nostalgia going around right now. a producer with a vision and an active tiktok campaign instead of this string of failed app games would completely revitalize it.

Agree with everyone else. There's something special about Neopets (that's the one I grew up with), but they also consistently fall on their face. There's so much potential, but it's sad to see them squander it. I'm guessing that the upper management doesn't care at all about the site and just want to squeeze it for some easy cash before it withers away 😢

Oh boy. Neo. I wish I could still support them. I loved Neopets, and if it weren't for them I wouldn't have discovered many sites that I love even more now (such as Subeta!) but this NFT stuff really feels like the beginning of the end.

Jellyneo put out a statement about them, commenting the unrealistic "NFT roadmap" that TNT released (not sure if I'm allowed to link to it but it's on their front page so it's pretty hard to miss), and they're doing a blackout. I'm supporting it. It's clear now TNT is just out for player's money at this point. And I mean, I understand that sites need money to keep running, and I don't think having paid features is a bad thing (I pay for a Subeta subscription after all!) but the way they just keep implementing more moneygrabs in the form of neocash wearables, dubious merch and now NFTs is just sketchy. Like trying to cash out on the sinking ship.

When I was younger and virtual pet sites were at their peak, I joined a lot of them. I mean A LOT. Subeta, Mara, Powerpets, Neutrinopets, Kenopets, Furry Paws, Wajas, and so many more I can't remember. And I remember seeing a lot of them shut down with time (not most of the ones I just mentioned tho) and it was such a sad thing to see the beautiful pet designs, fanworks, and just the general work the staff had put into the site, just disappear off the face of the internet. But it seemed like Neopets was always standing tall and proud above them all, simultaneously an aspiration and a warning to other sites. A real business. As a kid I remember thinking "well, it's a shame that Kenopets died, but at least I'll always have Neopets".

Now even that feels uncertain, and it even feels unfair that Neopets has managed to survive for so long just to turn into the broken, soulless husk of a website that it is now while so many people's passion projects had to shut down. It's easy to forget that a lot of those sites were created not just for children but by children. It was so encouraging, being a kid or young teen and seeing the amazing things other people my age were capable of doing. Stuff like that really made the internet feel manageable and understandable to my young mind rather than just a mysterious machine I can barely interact with. And it's mostly all gone now, eroded by time and internet trends, and while ancient crumbling Neopets still stands, I can't help but wonder, for how much longer?

It will definitely feel heartbreaking to log onto neopets one day and see it all gone, and I'm convinced that is what we are heading towards. One day, it will die, and it will be forgotten just like all the other minor pet sites that it spawned.

, I honestly have no idea what NFTs are but from what I've read it is not something I would want to purchase. There are many who are going to do a site blackout this weekend. Maybe TNT will understand that without revenue there is no site? Jumpstart is a company though so profit will always come first. I'll still be a part of Neo until the company flips that off switch. I'll cross my fingers that they realize that Neo means a lot to many users and that they need to do something else.

The whole situation is just skeevy; TNT wasn't informed of the NFT decision until after the company handling the NFTs had already made an announcement, and then someone found out that said company (Solaris) is owned by NetDragon...which also owns Jumpstart.

Then the TNT released a statement that the NFT project wasn't intending to recreate Neopets on the blockchain or anything like that, but then Metaverse (which is the name for the Neopets NFT project) made a statement saying that recreating Neopets on the blockchain is the eventual plan, so either they're lying or TNT has no clue what's going on.

It doesn't feel right. I've played for twenty-one years now and this is the first time I've ever felt this uncomfortable with something being done to the site.

this NFT thing is definitely the death knell of neopets lol. it reeks of squeezing as much money out of a mostly-broken game before shuttering it. TNT still hasn't given a satisfactory response to the community backlash OR the rampant homophobia, transphobia, and racism happening in the officially-endorsed metaverse discord. i honestly would've been less upset if they'd just shut down in january when flash support ended than i am regarding this pump and dump scam.

it really does feel like the end now though and thats sad. i will miss the beauty contest tbh, that was the one part of the site that was like rlly nostalgic for me because it basically taught me how to draw and idk if i would be an illustrator today if it wasn't for that! i wish there was something like that on subeta. just last week before things went rlly bad i drew something for the bc/art gallery and now i dont even want to enter anymore bc i don't want neo to have the rights to my work, im too angry at them lol.

the neo black market is literally insane tho. like i remember coming across that site that steals and sells UCs and some of them were like 800 USD for a stolen neopet?? i would say who tf is buying them but we all see whats going on in metaverse w the cryptobros so i guess there really is a market for anything. im so glad that isn't an issue on subeta (afaik)
