hardcore raider and FF14 don't belong in the same world. FF14 is a giant cakewalk. The expansion should be named "Cakewalker". Okay I kid I kid, but yes I would love to. Once I figure out my net, I play all classes and jobs because well, I can.
idk, I have a friend who practices multiple times a week with groups for ultimate/savage content and it keeps them on their toes.
I'd say the normal content is very easy and can be gotten through by anyone, with more levels of challenge if you go looking for it.
I'm a Xaela Summoner main. I'm happy sitting in the corner and playing with my legos, but I miss my dots.
Have you played any other MMOs? Everquest had raids that lasted for days at a time and most ended in failure. Some boss encounters took hours and clearing the path to the bosses took several hours. In FF14, it hands the boss to you on a platter ready to loot it. Also raids in Everquest were like 100+ people, so if you did manage to kill something, you'd have to pray to the gods for a chance at loot. It was tough times.
Why back in my day..... we had to walk 100 miles uphill over burning glass just to get logged onto our online games. (I kid, it was worse, we had to use AOL)
Hahaha fair! I was online in those days, just younger and not allowed to play "games you can't save when your parents are calling you", lol.
So true: every bit of content is designed to be finishable in a reasonable amount of time once you learn how it works, not crowdsourced endurance tests. Though it'd definitely be fun to take a crack at something with that 'near impossible' design philosophy.
My parents called me. I just said "You're not my real parents" (I am adopted) And that usually shut them up real fast. ....not saying that trick works for everyone but use what you got.
There was a real sense of pride when you finished something only maybe 3-5 guilds on ALL the severs ever finished. FF14 is like a never ending loot piñata and a whole lot of cat-bot fan service.
LOL - yeah, that's definitely a niche tactic.
The story and setting are what keep me coming back. I can forgive a lot in exchange for an enthusiastic community and a well-tuned fantasy-to-scifi industrial revolution setting that feels like home.
It's the people for me. I love the community. And I love learning all the ins and outs of all the classes. Everquest and even WoW did not allow a person to master every class. But I feel like with FF14 it is actually possible. As much as possible at least.
It's definitely possible to master all the classes, if that's something you're interested in doing! My main is capped in everything (except blue mage, because blue mage is a lie and a disappointment to me, it had so much potential and I was excited at original announcement for it, but they really whiffed it when it actually released as far as I'm concerned); disciples of war, magic, land, and hand. I play all of the jobs on a fairly regular basis, except tanks, I don't like to tank with strangers. (Which means I only tank solo, because all my friends that used to play either dropped off the face of Eorzea or hopped to a different data center.) My beau mains dark knight, though, and astrologian is my favorite job, so it works for us to be a healer/tank duo.

Hit me up and I'll get you my char info I'm level 82 Pally now. I'm taking him to 90 before I switch to others.
hi! i may or may not be slightly highly obsessed with this game i jokingly tried about two years ago on a whim
i'm a RPR main, playing (and currently cosplaying as!) a moonkeeper miqo'te on ultros. i've been getting back into tanking (WAR, DRK) and trying to learn RDM but i can't get used to the rotation on that one fjdkslgh. DRG is my pvp main though!
mostly nowadays i'm doing PVP and raid roulettes, but i like working on my house little by little. i didn't expect to like PVP as much as i do, but it started with me wanting the garo mounts since my friends were grinding them at the time but now i log on just about daily for that alone! my friend group and i will also run variant dungeons/treasure maps/etc occasionally. MSQ is my absolute favorite part of the game though :3
i'm super excited about dawntrail, it'll be my first release since catching up. (i was here for the endwalker release but i was still in heavensward at the time)
oh hey if anyone ever needs a pink catboy to run things with or design their house............. hi lol i play anything but prefer omnihealer. my fc is super small and i'm the only active one left but i refuse to leave because when they DO log in i love to see them and my fc house sob. i'm always up for making new friends in game tho!!! i'm on lamia/primal but happy to hop to any na dc wehehe
i like to raid, pvp, fish, house (my projects), mount farm, you name it may we please be friends? (:
it is genuinely one of my favorite games ever. I love the story SO much, and the gameplay and the community. having played WoW for over a decade on and off, the FFXIV community is SO nice in comparison to other mmos; and you can tell the devs really care about the game. they aren't perfect, but they care.
also the memes are always on point and so funny.
my girl is an au'ra (raen) white mage! white mage is definitely my favorite class, and just healing in general. c: I say all the time if I didn't love my au'ra so much and have her so fleshed out, I'd probably be a viera boy; they're just so...pretty. I enjoy doing the main story quests, limited events, and casual dungeoneering (is that a word? LOL)
I play on Crystal > Zalera!
edit: I forgot to mention I also LOVE making npc "cosplay" alts. they're very fun. (just dressing up like npcs)
I love FFXIV, it's my first proper MMO (we as a friend group gave new world a try when that came out but whoof, what a sh-show that was, so i dont count it).
I have the one character, hes a wee ginger catboy and has absolute ginger cat energy lmao. I'm a Tank main (Warrior currently level 84); but to be a bit more versatile with my friend group I started to learn Healer (Scholar lvl 68 now) and its fun but stressful lmao. I dont enjoy DPS as much (Summoner lvl 68 to go with the healer and working on my Bard lvl 40ish?) but it's good for the versatility.
Havent done anything with the PVP stuff yet, im not sure if that interests me as much. I do enojoy Deep Dungeons though, we try to get together on a thursday to go diving in the palace of the dead, we are back up to floor 170 after TPKing at 184 previously. We will get to the bottom soon!
I also managed to buy a house and I am in love with decorating it, its where all my money goes xD
I started playing FF14 on a whim because my sister liked it and I thought we could play together. At first, I wasn't super interested, but now I CAN'T STOP PLAYING! It's so much fun and I don't know why.
My character is a male Lalafell and I have only played Marauder/Warrior (level 57). I love just playing the MSQ, doing beast tribe quests, playing games at the Gold Saucer, and people-watching in the main hubs. It's so fun to see everyone's characters!
I've finished ARR and am in the intermediary part between ARR and Heavensward. I'm still on the free trial, and I don't know what I'll do when I hit level 70, Maybe I'll end up paying a subscription...not sure yet. But I have a long way to go before that happens!

that's so helpful! Thank you! I didn't know all that but now I'm more excited about trying the game out!
I have to recommend FFXIV seeing as.. i'm still stuck in that game after 8+ years. I play Au Ra characters. Xaela and Raen. (Fanta'd into a lizard after HW dropped 'cuz gotta love them) I'm a DRK/SMN main, though I do have all the jobs leveled (DoH and DoL too) and have done content on quite a few other jobs.
It's got quite a bit of things you can do in it. Both for casual and for the more... hardcore. The different jobs can also slightly vary in skill roof though. (I miss old SMN and it's disgusting opener but NICE DAMAGE, but new SMN is nice and braindead).
I like murder-- I mean PVP quite a bit. And when i'm not being a menace with a magic stick on the field, i'm progging something or helping friends prog something. Maybe it's the current tier. Maybe it's an ultimate. Maybe it's both at the same time because I hate myself (love yourself and try not to do this; it can get exhausting). Maybe it's Maybelline.
LOL, your Maybelline line got me. I made a sorc in BG3 named Maybelline and my brothers were very disappointed when they realized why. 🤭
My main in FF is a miqo'te scholar on Leviathan. Really hoping the release of beastmaster gives blue mage more fun stuff to do. I'll usually queue for roulette as any of the healers, sometimes reaper or bard as those are my favorite dps.
It is prob silly to have alts in a game that let's you play every class but it happened anyway. XD I have a cutie lala alt, and a Hythlodaeaus bunny boy alt. ❤️ Sometimes a character concept gets in my head and there's no other cure! 😅
Some things that still need to be done though.. Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High. I've done a little in them, and it was really fun with a group of friends, but never finished either one. 🤔
My younger bro used to play, too. He was a gil making master! But he has been absorbed playing FFXI on the Horizon private server. shakes fist My other bro that plays is all into that end game savage stuff. 😬 Not so much me, that stresses me out, lol.

Haha! Glad you got a kick out of it; and that's funny :'D
Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High can be uh... 'fun' on higher floors. HoH is easier; since it's well, not as many floors. Also; cuz it has the the primal summons. HoH gives you a horse for completing it and getting all the accessories (4) and a title. PoTD-- uhh you just get things to trade in for loot. And, ofc all have a title for completing the entire thing solo. There are guides out there if you decide to be a mad lad and do that.
