Happy HUGS!

Well, first days of the school year in the books- well, just in-service days. I am so pooped. It was so humid in my classroom and so hot with wearing a mask for 8 hours. I am glad that once the kids come, it will be half day in person for 4 hours and then the afternoon will be virtual. So at least it's not so long then.

So burnt out from the quest-a-thon. lol Anyone else?

Thank you so much!!! <3

Nicole - Oh no! Hopefully things cool off for you so it's more comfortable in your classroom. What grade do you teach? My best friend is a teacher also and they go back next week to in-person classes and she's not looking forward to it like she normally does.

Congrats on winning the Hugs Lottery! -hugs-

thank you! It is 3-4-5 special ed. We will have some kids learning in person and some kids coming virtually, so it will be interesting. Sorry to hear your friend is not looking forward to going back. I am definitely nervous about it. I am happy to get to see my students in person, though (these are all kids that we had last year, they're usually in our room for a few years since we only have 2 special ed rooms in my school). I have a feeling we will not make the whole year in person and will have to go virtual at some point again. Just so much unknown.

Congratulations on winning the Huggs person of the month!! :) <3 (((((Huggs))))) I hope your friend has a safe return to school, and that everything goes well. Personally, I don’t think schools should open just yet!

Congratulations on winning the Huggs lottery!! <3 :) (((((Huggs)))))

Boy, I’m sure glad today is the last day of the quest -a- thon! I did manage to get every quest done, I don’t know how I managed it in those first days...

I don’t know how you do it wearing a mask for 8 hours! I barley can manage wearing a mask just long enough to go to the grocery store! Hopefully, it will cool off soon for you! I would think that it can be a problem having children wear a mask for a long period, especially special education children. How difficult to you anticipate it being to teach the students for half of the time in the classroom, and half time virtually? I sure hope everything goes smoothly for you, and your students in this school year!!

I don't know how I managed to wear it that long myself lol. I have also only worn it to the grocery store, etc for short periods of time before this. I'm not really sure how it's going to work teaching in person and virtually. We are one on one with the students, so some of us will have children in person and some on chrome books doing each of their individual programs. We rotate and work with all the kids. I don't know how the virtual kids well will tolerate being on a computer screen for so long.

Then in the afternoon, everything is virtual for everyone. They said we can go home then and teach from home, so I'm glad about that.

Thank you! I'll let everyone know how it goes on Tuesday. :)

I would think it’s going to be difficult for the children to do half of the school day in classroom, then go home and do the next half of the day on the computer. It’s hard enough just to get them to do homework! Good luck with that! Are there fun learning games that the kids will get to do virtually? I think that would be a big help! Maybe have the leap pads be brought in if possible? I found those to be a great help my children, and grandchildren :) Teachers as a whole, aren’t given enough credit (or pay) for the difficult job that they do! I think you all deserve a big pay raise, along with hazard pay for as long as this Covid thing goes on!! Stay safe out there, best of luck in the new, and different school year! (((((Huggs)))))

Thank you!! <3

My friend also works in the special education department for K-8. She helps kids that need extra help with Math and really loves her job and the kids. I think she's nervous about how it's going to work because the school hasn't done a great job communicating any sort of plan and the size of their school makes distancing tricky. I can see having to go back to virtual learning at some point depending on how this fall/winter plays out. Hopefully things go smoothly for you :)

Happy Birthday !! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday

I am enjoying my 3 day weekend. Last weekend was busy for me, so this weekend I am just relaxing. I do have to do my laundry tomorrow and I am still cooking, but other than that, I am being lazy.

. You may have already explained it, but what is the reasoning behind the half in class/half virtual teaching? How do the kids get home if parents can't pick them up? I'm guessing all the students live fairly close to the school, otherwise you'd have the kids logging in at different times if they live a long way from the school. Also, the issue of how unsettling it will be to move from one type of learning environment, then switching to another environment. You have quite an age spread in your class as well which will be harder for you to manage the teaching I imagine. How many students do you have? I'm not sure what special ed is in the United States. Is it children with learning difficulties or students with varying issues such as English as a second language, or social issues, or physical issues or all of the above! Sorry for all the questions. Just curious!

and . Yes I was so excited to be over doing the quests, but ended up doing them on the 1st anyway! I'll be over that habit very soon. It was hard to get on here on a daily basis and it's so time consuming. It was of course very nice to make a lot of sP!! I didn't remember how lucrative it really is. I went on a mad spending spree about a month ago, so I've finally got my bank balance healthy again (well healthy for me anyway, maybe alarmingly low for some!)

I'm in reverse for seasons, so we're heading into Spring. The weather here has turned warm straight away after a very cold (for here) and very wet Winter. We needed the water though as our dam levels were low after a few dry years.

(((hugs)))) I was also was so glad to read you made it safely to Denver! I went to Denver about a million years ago and remember the stunning Rockies. They will be so beautiful in Winter (even if you're not a fan of the cold).

- it sounds like you live in a postcard! Obviously beautiful all year to look at.

It's Sunday here and we're heading out for the day on a boat on a nearby bay. I can't even remember the last time I was on a boat (except for a ferry). Should be fun! Hope everybody has a lovely weekend xxxxxxx

thank you! Yes, we do have lots of fun games for them to play on the computer and such so that they're still educational, plus we will be livestreaming. It will be interesting for sure!

thank you! I'm sorry to hear your friend's school hasn't been so forthcoming with information. Luckily, ours has been pretty good over the summer. They did several zoom calls with staff and the superintendent, as well as the superintendent/board of education with the parents.

the main reasons that they are doing in person for the morning and virtual for the afternoon is so that the kids will not have to eat lunch in school and so that they will only have to tolerate wearing a mask for a little over 4 hours a day instead of close to 8. They do have an aftercare option for the children of parents who need to work full time and the kids will be logging in the virtual lessons from there. I am kind of surprised by the fact that dismissal starts at 12:30 and then kids are expected to be back on virtually about an hour later. The kids do live near the school, but there is still some travel time for the kids that have to take the bus. I do know they want parents to pick up/drop off if possible to avoid having crowded buses but then that's just going to make dismissal last forever I think.

We have 8 kids total in our class, but 4 are in person and 4 are fully virtual. My class is a multi-disability class of children with learning disabilities. Most of the kids are on the autism spectrum, but we also have children with apraxia, down syndrome, hearing deficits, and other disabilities. It varies from year to year! :)

It was definitely nice to have the extra sP for the quest-a-thon. I feel like a lot more people were buying from my shop these past 10 days than usual. I tend to do most of my quests (though not always all) each day depending on time. I had like close to 2500 items in my shop just from stocking it with things I had gotten during questing. I have had so many sales (even with getting all those items too from the quests that I was doing), that I'm down to just about 1800 items. I think I made close to 100 mil over the course of the 10 days. It definitely didn't hurt to get a nightmare potion from Carl yesterday!

Okay, first, congrats on making that much in such a short period, ! That's crazy... And second, I didn't realize you could get such great rewards from quests! I have been doing ~40 a day (I get kinda burnt out, so I never get around from doing all of them) but I haven't gotten anything near that good yet. Something to work towards! (:

Sending positivity to everyone going back to school in any capacity. <3 I hope transitions are going as smoothly as possible and everyone stays safe. My CEO is talking about going back into the office soon, and as someone who needs to use two public forms of transportation, I'm really dreading it.

thanks! It's definitely not the normal, but it was nice while it lasted! lol The Nightmare Potion from Carl was a first for me. I caught him sleeping so I got a better reward. But then for example, I caught him sleeping again yesterday and only got a 60k item. So it's hit or miss, though Carl does tend to give out some Subeautique items sometimes. It was nice to get such a good item though and it sold basically right away, which is even better. :)

Ugh, that doesn't sound like fun. I am glad that I do not have to take public transportation- I think I would be a little nervous. Honestly, I have basically been home except for my volunteering at a dog rescue since the beginning of the pandemic, so even just this going to work thing for me is kind of throwing myself right into it I guess. I have been a hermit. lol Hoping we all stay safe and healthy!!!
