doesnt everyone already get 90% of the prizes for doing little to nothing anyway?
If you can’t be among the best this time you’ll get it another time. Any threshold will have pissed people that didn’t attain it for whatever x y z reason

We have no idea if the reward will come back. Each quest-a-thon had unique rewards - winning the 2018 quest-a-thon didn't bestow past titles to people who missed on them.
Same with the Fashion Hoodie.
there's no guarantee they'll bring a prize back even when they say it'll be brought back when appropriate.
I'm hoping that the most recent news clarification will show that even those who were not able to finish will be able to qualify for the top prize if they continue. To quote:

With the new news post.. I feel like a lot of the people who are doing as many quests as they can each day will definitely get the gold border. Even if you lose a few to lag there are essentially 100 "slots" you could fit into, with unlimited places in each slot.
Holiday Things
We'll see if the site remains stable. Right now, the thread isn't as relevant, but if General Error and its 502 and 504 minions come back, we might have to talk about this again.
That's a good point about the Unlucky title, I still want it, so it would be good to have a Summer raffle again, or maybe even a Winter raffle in January or something since it's a bit late to have a Summer raffle this year now. Or it could be re-purporsed for another site feature. Same with the Ice skin, I have it, but there are many people who don't because they were away during the event it came from, or hadn't joined yet. And people are asking if there can be an additional quest goal this year, and some people have suggested re-releasing the Evil Morty challenger and Fashion Hoodie for those who missed them before, which I like the idea of. I also don't know if there will ever be a way for people to get the titles from previous Quest-a-thons that they missed. Maybe they'll stay unobtainable like the titles that came from plot activities.
But it would be good if it was confirmed that the border will be obtainable in future Quest-a-thons for people that didn't get it. If there is a way to get it the rank thing to ignore the people who already have it or something.
Event Actions
We're not going to reconsider how the border goes out for this quest-a-thon. That's not to say the gold border won't be used again in the future for quest-a-thons. I mentioned somewhere in the news comments that Keith wants us to have a few more quest-a-thons a year than we have in the past. That's an excellent opportunity to bring back older prizes, I was already thinking about the hoodie with all y'all hounding me to do some stretch goals. :p
We haven't forgotten about the unlucky achievement title! Or the challenger exclusive prize we did for a quest-a-thon in the past.
This gold border was an experiment to see what works and what doesn't. This isn't the last time we'll have a competitive sort of air to an event with a border. It's a little trial and error to see what works best, and I'm really glad y'all have been patient about it and willing to give suggestions without yelling at me. :)
As a collective, we all want what's best for the site; so yelling at you wouldn't be very productive.
Hell, I still haven't missed a quest after three days, but I was concerned for other people, people who didn't have the free time to wrestle through lag like I have monday :D
We're most likely gonna hit 1M' quests this Friday, so the ideas to go and talk about stretch goals was really to keep the site active and all. ;D
I'm too tired and lazy to get the border (and I think it's weird to have a competition in a community event but whatever), but I do hope that it just... doesn't get forgotten about.
I see Amber here, but I see the age of some of these like the Unlucky title, and wow, that's kind of old. :s
Multiple quest-a-thons?
Not a bad idea. Especially since everyone is stuck at home due to you-know-what.
I'm lazy but also have internet connection issues, so I haven't done all my quests either.

Yeah, 's initial goal is to have a quest-a-thon a season. We'll see how that goes! You'll likely see a post in the next day or so about some stretch goal situations.
And , like I said this is just testing it out (the competition aspect). Most of the prizes everyone gets for doing one quest. Keith argued that there should be a prize people really have to work for, and so the gold border was born.
I'm not going to lie, I thought it had something to do with all of the people who claim that you shouldn't get anything if you do one quest. The idea to give somebody something for doing more rather than moving the minimum requirement is something I agree with, I'm just not much of a fan of competition in general.

Seasonal quest-a-cons might be too much.. I feel like people would get burnt out..

Agree, though seasonal ones would give people something to do during this pandemic. Seasonal quest-a-thons might also require a lower quest number to reach.
Outside of a pandemic though, one in summer and one in winter is fine. :)

That's why I said initial goal! ;) Don't worry I GOT YOUR BACKS. As a team, we've discussed some other options too, like 's raffle suggestion. I think his point was we should have something fairly regularly that isn't just holiday related.
I've never understood the idea that limited release items = bad just because not everyone can get them. What does the yellow border really signify? That someone has a lot of time to spend playing games. I keep seeing the argument that since users with gold accounts are most likely to get that border, it's somehow unfair to everyone else. But gold accounts are very easily obtained with site currency, especially with how easy CSC is to get (free with the bathhouse, plus they gave out 1000CSC to everyone a few months ago). Idunno. There are plenty of items I'll never be able to get: powerful battle opponent drops; old plot prizes; bobbleheads and tiles; certain skins.. but that doesn't mean we should never have battle-exclusive items, or limited-run collections, or plots with teirs of awards like the tiered border awards for this quest-a-thon.
Biyearly quest-a-thons - summer and winter would be perfect. Put one in July where nothing happens, and one in the lull between Luminaire and Survival!
Spring and Fall have too many events to handle a quest-a-thon; raffles would be better

Tbh I would not like the idea of missing a free pet slot just because RNG hates me but maybe/hopefully I am only misinterpreting the word "raffle" incorrectly.
