Hey, thanks for the suggestion. While we understand why some people would want these changes, we won't be displaying legacy names in the Adopt R Us, and pets will continue to keep their legacy name when they are abandoned there.
Legacy names are a way for us to acknowledge that these pets had names that were hard fought for. Itβs not a feature that is going to be built on or expanded, itβs for the users who had pets when we made the change, and so we wonβt be adding it to any other places, nor making any further changes to it aside from the option to remove it.

Well, there is still a roundabout way to check for those who really want to - you can still view the pet's profile using the pet ID number in the URL. But no, ultimately, we're not making further changes to this feature because it would be against the spirit we intended for legacy names.
The legacy name isn't meant to be treated as a pet's secret "real" name. The pet's name is its real name now as it always was, and the legacy name was something we added to honor and acknowledge that the pet had a name that may have been hard fought for.
