I'm pretty happy that the staff are making big changes to Subeta's back-end to make it more stable and accessible. Is it exciting to get news on those changes, compared to news about a plot or new site feature? Well, yes and no. No because it doesn't affect my day-to-day play on the site, but yes because it means things can only get better in the future.
Subeta has become a bigger creative outlet for me, as well, I've been enjoying coming up with stories about my pets and plucking away at writing them for their profiles. It's slow work, but it feels really, really satisfying when it all comes together.
I'm just generally so unhappy. Subeta isn't the same anymore.
It would really help if the wardrobe was actually functional instead of it crashing all the time. The Aenoid and some other pets really need revamps (as well as Manticore and some really old items).
Aside from the wardrobe, which has had a bunch of other issues in all of its iterations, the problems you mentionned aren't recent. The basic-posed Aeanoids are the same since what, 2005? and have been needing a revamp for years.
Same with Manticore, old battle opponents, and other well...old items.
We just don't have a lot of artists, so we have to wait more for revamps. It's only fair; Subeta doesn't have a huge art staff anymore.
Would be nice to see Subeta on the upswing... Hoping that the subscriptions and pet name changes renew people's interests and bring more revenue to the site so that maybe just maybe revamps and more new content can come out sooner rather than trickle down the pipeline.
I just hope we can get some changes on the CW prices soon. I almost bought one today but as I cycle through them a lot, I can't justify 7$ worth for a wig I can't sell in a dying market and only get a pittance back from the pawn.
I'm adding my voice to the people saying they're happier that Subeta is focusing on functionality over plots. Don't get me wrong, I adore all of Subeta's plots, but also.
This site has had a lot of issues for years. And those issues are constantly brought up by users, people are constantly complaining about them, but staff always end up focusing on plots and new content so the problems keep building up. We still have a lot of old content that never actually went anywhere; every few months threads pop up like 'hey, when is such and such ever going to get addressed?' or 'hey whatever happened to such and such?'. But, again, staff prioritize new things over old things, and so things never really have a chance to improve.
So I am totally fine with them putting a pause for a while and focusing on fixing all the issues that have just been building up for years. They've already made some pretty big changes for the better of the site, and I really hope that momentum continues. Sure, they haven't been as exciting as plots would have been, but they were desperately needed.
I absolutely do agree about the pets problem though. Some pets have been sitting unrevamped for years, and I get not having an artist to do them, but. I'd prefer they avoid making another new species at least until all the old pets have been revamped, and all of them have their colour palettes fully filled out. However long that might take. Rather then just continuously adding more pets that will also never have their colour palettes fully filled out.
Please please revamp Aeanoids soon. I have so many of them and I love all of them, but they're really showing their age and are lacking a bunch of colors. (I especially want Cherry for my gal 10008, and Blacklight for Aori...) It's really sad. ; _; I want to see more revamped pets vs. new pet species honestly; unless it's the squid experiment being made into a species then I'm pretty happy with everything right now lol.
I DO really appreciate attention being put towards fixes and functionality vs. plots and events. I feel like there's been stuff that's been just.. neglected or in need of a revamp/fix for awhile, and this summer might as well be the time to do it.
There's already a LOT of new life in the pet name system revamp, I feel, and I hope that's the start of a nice upswing.
Me, I'm in favor of staff using their limited time and availability to make the site work better.
Subeta has always been quiet in the summer. It has always been non-functional in one way or another for years and years.
Rolling with the errors is subeta survival technique. Using the summer to clean collections up, reat/eat your pets, draw stuff up etc. has always been a thing you could do.
It's probably you.
