I'd love to have these changed into Zentus, to be quite honest! That's certainly something we can look to change this summer.

I'm very ready to listen to user thoughts and opinion on this thread. I'm really more interested in being anti-racist instead of just "not racist", and I imagine there are several items that warrant some discussion!

Hey everyone, just checking in. I want to make a few points, and then I’m going to lock this thread because I think it’s reached past the point of being productive feedback.

1. We take reports like this seriously. However, we working on a rewrite of the site, planning out events for the rest of the year and trying to balance a budget during a global pandemic. I hope you’ll forgive us that the priority of threads like this, while things that we take seriously, are not at the top of our list right now. If someone was being put in danger or unable to handle their time on Subeta without these items changing, we would move to fix them immediately. However, changing these items takes time and thought.

2. We need to figure out a better way, as a site, to have these types of conversations and let users raise their concerns. This thread is a great example of how someone can have legitimate concerns that get twisted over three pages, where in the end it becomes the job of those users to defend their position, instead of advocate for it. This is an ongoing issue, and something I’m trying to resolve as we move toward potential new forum and social solutions.

These discussions are important, and I want us to be able to reflect on choices that we made years ago (sometimes more than ten years) and thoughtfully replace them, and be critical on ourselves when we fail to do that. Again, I think that those changes need to be done thoughtfully. I would rather take more time to replace an item with something that respects and accomplishes the original intention than replace it immediately with something we’re going to have to replace again in a year because we weren’t given the space to think it through.
