Today's question:

Have you ever interacted with law enforcement?

My personal answer: Today, I noticed I've never gotten in contact with the police before (as far as I can remember) and even though I would consider myself to be somewhat rebellious, I've never gotten into any real trouble. This actually quite surprised me and I wondered if that's the norm or not. And since you guys are (hopefully) usually quite honest with me, I thought I might ask. If you don't want to talk about this, I completely understand and as usual, I hope I'm not perceived as rude for asking.

[/spoiler]

for Rainbowcat That's exactly what I thought! Although, I've tried to stay quite general with my questions up until now. Religion, politics, ethics and the other more controversial topics have not really been on the table yet. I don't want to step on anyone's toes or ruin the open and tolerant atmosphere here so I think I'll stick to less controversial questions for the time being. :) If you have question ideas, I'm always open for them :)

Have you ever interacted with law enforcement?

To an extent I have, and... it led to a number events in my life that were caused by someone else, that has left me relatively broken nowadays. Thankfully I have friends and family who are helping me to recover. :)

For the Anon Gifter I'm not sure who was reading what I wrote in my last reply on this topic, but thank you so much for the anonymous present! I've added it to my pet's treasure. Thank you so much! <3

One comes to mind, a long time ago I was rudely awakened by officers who somehow got inside my house. Bawling out me and my brothers about false accusations. Seems a neighbor sent them over to cover their own children's crap.

Otherwise, nothing. I value my relative freedom and well being to needlessly take part in things that are useless at best.

do i collect stuff on subeta? yes! i collect . they're so cute lol. i was also collecting and but they got too expensive to keep buying.

i also collect way too many wearables, but I've been doing a good job of getting rid of a lot of it.

as for today's question, no. i am a young, thin woman and i fly under the radar. no one ever questions if i belong or if i am doing something wrong. i am acutely aware of my privilege and i try to use it to protest those who are not born looking like me (which is such a sad statement to have to utter). i used to think the police were good, but that was because they assumed i am law-abiding. many people don't have the same experience and for good reason.

Have you ever interacted with law enforcement?

A few times, yeah. When I was in high school I had to get to the bus early for a speech and drama trip and while I was walking to the school, I had a cop pull over to basically check on me. I lived in a small town at the time, so all the cops probably knew who I was, it was just a sort of quick "are you okay & where are you headed?" kind of thing. I don't remember what time we had to leave, but probably like 6am or something so I had to have been walking around 5:30 am or so.

Another time was when I had a really bad roommate like 10 or more years ago. Like she was under the legal drinking age, but would find someone to buy her beer and then would have hwr friends over late drinking on nights when she knew I had work early the next day. So one of my friends called the cops on her and I had to talk to them and give a little statement that I hadn't bought the beer, but if I had it would have been for me and not for her. And then the cops nicely called me to let me know that she was trashing my room and we should get back. (my friend and I had left because I was kind of shaken up due to being super non-confrontational and all that so we went to get something to eat) I moved out that night.

And then another time probably 4 or 5 years ago, I had just picked up a new straight talk phone at Walmart because my previous one was dead and after buying it, I was only a couple blocks away from the store when the cops pulled up and basically picked me up as a potential shoplifter and took me back to the store where the store manager confirmed that I was not the person they were after. (I mean, I get it though, I did look like a stereotypical shoplifter in my combat boots, hooded sweater jacket, and messenger bag.)

For Minty Yeah, some topics can be really polarizing so I can understand wanting to stay away from them. I'll have to look through the past questions and maybe think up some to suggest.

Also big, huge thanks to the anon gifter! <3

Do you collect something on subeta? Aside from the normal collections, I've recently started collecting what I call "Pet Swag", basically any Subeta item based off or inspired by the different pet breeds that I have.

Have you ever interacted with law enforcement? In my teens and early 20's, there were a lot of "Cops!" everybody scramble moments due to loitering, trespassing on private property, vandalism, field parties, and the like. In more recent years the only interactions I've had with cops (in an uh oh kind of way) are traffic tickets.

Minty I make Thai Ice Tea by taking loose-leaf tea (Ceylan normally), star anise, cardamon, tamarind, & vanilla bean and steep it in boiling water for like 5 to 7 minutes, strain the tea add sugar and condensed milk, put it in my cup and top it with some evaporated milk. Recently a friend had me try it with coconut cream and coconut milk instead of condensed & evaporated milk, which turned out pretty good too. (My measurements when I make kind of depend on the size of the glass I'm using or how much I plan on drinking)

Have you ever interacted with law enforcement? Several times. In college someone rear-ended my car, then fled the scene. That was my first interaction with law enforcement. Then, as a nurse, when I worked the Murrah Bombing site, we worked with law enforcement for hours, trying to secure safety, find people, etc. My uncle was a detective as well. So yeah....a few times.

The only "closer" contact with law enforcement that I had was when I got into a random car control late in the evening together with my dad. I was still a child at that time and the nice police officer who checked my dads' papers gave me a peppermint bonbon. ^-^

Today's question:

Is there something you are looking forward to?

My personal answer: Really short-term: tomorrow I'll be picking black berries with a friend and we'll be making jam out of it and the day after I'll finally get to see my really close friend who was in Mexico for a year is now finally done with her voluntary two week quarantine. Long-term, I'm looking forward to working in the field I want to go into and traveling to places I intend to visit. Oh and of course I'm looking forward to someone finally developing a vaccine for covid...

for HatterLi That Thai ice tea sounds super delicious! I definitely have to try it with that coconut version! And it sounds like you were quite the wild child ;) I'm glad you didn't get into any serious trouble though!

for February30th What?! How did they get in your home? Isn't that illegal? An what sort of horrible neighbors would do that!?

for sirius How great that you've only had pleasant experiences with the police! I wish there were more cops like the one who gave you candy! What a kind gesture

for rainbowcat What a horrible roommate! Did she destroy anything? And I can understand that you did not want to live there any longer... Having a bad roommate can really ruin the best times because you always know that at the end of the day you have to return to a place that doesn't feel like home because of somebody else...

for Katastrophy I'm sorry to hear that someone has dragged you into this whole mess which probably ended up being a legal issue. You can be very proud of yourself to be able to say that you got through that difficult and challenging phase. I'm glad you have that strong support system consisting of friends and family. <3

for atomic So what is your current opinion on your local/national law enforcement? I feel like I can ask you that question, but I'd feel like it would be too controversial for the broad masses. So there you go, you get another individual question. Hold up, you are actually one of the people who can be friends with an ex? Kudos! It's not like I don't talk to my sister and that we can't bear each others company, but we just don't get along well. Whenever she is with me, she acts really irrational and behaves like she is still in puberty which gets on my nerves since she is 4 years older than me. She is also wayyyy smarter than I am so I don't really get why she acts that way. I think after having a fit she usually realises that she was behaving ridiculously, but she then doesn't have the guts to apologize which makes me even angrier. I hate it when people act like nothing happened after a fight. At least own your flaws. It used to be me who was annoying her as a kid to get her attention, but now she just annoys me by being so unbearably moody, rude and irrational. She ruined my prom, my dad's birthday, our Japan travels and much more thanks to that. And she even said "nobody agitates me the way Julie does" (I am Julie) and I could literally just sit there breathing and she'll be getting all naggy and moody. I don't know if I trigger suppressed childhood trauma in her or whatever but I'm just over it. I wish I could change my own behaviour somehow to stop this from happening but this is honestly out of my control so now all I can do is just wait for the storm to pass, already in anticipation of the next one which is sure to come.... Sorry for the rant. What would you say is the reason for your rather few RL friends? Because I feel like you are a really funny and interesting person (from what I gathered) and I'd totally wear matching inflatable squid costumes while we go thrift shopping together xD

for sensuous It's really great that you recognise that privilege of yours and do not shamelessly use it for your own benefit but use it to highlight the error in the system which lead to your privilege. Unfairness should never go unnoticed <3

I was looking forward to adopting a new cat... since the passing of our old cat Boots the house has been very... very empty. But due to Covid still being a problem... we kind of have to put things on hold and hope that the world can piece itself back together in some way... Other then that no sadly... nothing else really to look forward to.

As mentioned, some shady neighbors tried to pin their own crimes on us, the police barging in was never explained to me. This was years ago, I don't fully remember because I was under the influence of my meds.

What do I look forward to? I look forward to the end of all this misery, my faith allows me to see this as the last signs before day of my Creator's wrath. I am tired of all this crap, enduring a little more is no small task.

Very short-term answer - I'm excited to be able to go outside tomorrow! That sounds pretty sad, but I haven't gotten to go outside for more than the trash in a few days. Due to COVID, I now work mostly from home, and I haven't been able to get any exercise or go for a walk due to very hot and humid weather. I am SO eager to be able to go for a run early tomorrow morning and then a walk later in the day, even if it's raining.

How about you, ?

- Love your answer! It will be wonderful to get to see your friend again! :)

- I'm so sorry to hear about Boots. Losing a pet is incredibly hard, especially when we're all at home these days and the emptiness is in front of us. I'm sure you have a lot of love to give. Do you think you'll be able to adopt a cat sometime soon? <3

Thanks kindly! Yes I'm still getting used to the house being cat-less right now and it's not easy... I really do hope we can find the right new feline friend to bring home. I'm checking the shelter sites and asking around as often as I can. If we have to wait a little while longer so be it but I'm kind of hoping we'll have some luck soon!

I hope you can enjoy your time out when you go! Stay safe~

Short-Term: Whenever work gets super terrible one of my co-workers will declare that week's Thursday, as Thirsty Thursday and a small group of us gather at her house for drinks, food, and games to unwind from our 40+ hours of stress. This Thursday has tentatively been declared Thirsty Thursday and she's found a new game for us to play which is apparently just Dungeons & Dragons with drinking rules, so nerd that I am, I'm hella excited for that adventure.

Long-Term: Getting my solitude back. I love my family, really I do, but my mother was only supposed to be staying with me during the off-season of her job and my brother & his partner moved in in February for what was supposed to be a 1-month deal...... Here it is almost August and I still have a house full of people and a third cat (that is the devil). My house has been my sanctuary from all the stresses in my life but for the past few months, coming home has just been more stress and I honestly don't know how much longer I can deal.

picking blackberries is such a summery and cute activity! I've never picked my own fruit. that sounds so fun! i hope you have a good time.

i feel you. my cat recently passed away in march after being my baby for over 13 years. he was my best friend and losing him was so painful to handle on top of a global pandemic.

i hope you find someone! i would love to adopt a senior kitty because they are often passed over in favor of kittens, but we still have many cats around, lol. senior kitties are so sweet though. many shelters are doing adoptions and fostering still, it just takes place outdoors.

today's q:

looking forward to getting a job lol. i am also looking forward to fall and winter. it doesn't feel like July at all!

Very short term aka today: getting my hair done, LOL. My sister-in-law is a hairdresser and we are going to spend the day together.

Short term: I got my vacation cottage back so I can finally drive with the cats to the North Sea! We booked and then there was a double booking and the agency cancelled and then they talked the other party into booking another cottage so we have ours back, a charming little one with a winter garden and a fenced garden for the cats with lateral beach view. Only 2 more weeks until the first vacation day!
