Wait though. How are they figuring out who's missing what if we don't actually have to report missing items to get them back?

As I've understood it, they're trying to cross-reference the data from that 4 months old backup with that user-made spreadsheet (and our reports of missing wardrobe items?). Or maybe something like that?

Posting my theory here.

I've checked the list a few times and have stuff missing.

The stuff that's on the list that isn't missing in my wardrobe, I'm almost certain I have the item currently being used on an HA in my saved outfits (or in the case of the delish boots, my current HA is wearing them.)

I wonder if the reason some users have the item and some don't is because the item is saved on an outfit or currently being used on an HA? Just a theory.

After scrutinizing my wardrobe, I don't think I've lost anything... despite having some items that had been reportedly missing. Guess I'm one of the luckies, and that this glitch behaved in the most random possible way.

Is there a way to figure out how many items are in my wardrobe? I got the 15,000 items in the wardrobe achievement ages ago and I never have really removed anything from my wardrobe as I am a bit of a hoarder... so if I knew what the number of items in my wardrobe is it would maybe calm me down to know that I have not lost a boatload of stuff because I have no way to know what should be in my wardrobe... But then again maybe it wouldn't. T_T I just have no way of knowing if I have lost anything and it is freaking me out.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your theory - which I totally could be, so correct me if so! - I don't think that could be it. EX: I'm missing the Acorn item, even though I did have it on multiple saved avatars at the time. :o

If you go to the old wardrobe and then "organize items," it should tell you the exact number in it.

So, if the backup from 4 months ago is up, we have to check "just" the items we presumably added to our wardrobe in this 4 months (if we can remember almost the most valuable ones), is it right??

Correct! (If other items from earlier are missing, they should be able to see that on the backup without additional steps on their end, if I'm understanding correctly.) But you don't have to check anything if you don't want to. Staff will take care of it.

I haven't had time to read the entire thread, so pardon me if this has has already been asked and answered, but once items are restored, will they be stuck back in our wardrobe, or will they wind up in our inventory? Just wondering whether I need to pay close attention now before quick stocking my shop so I don't stock anything that needs to go in my wardrobe, or whether it'll be business as usual.

no info on that yet as far as I know
