Hey, you all! I know I don't write on this forum much, but I love hanging out and lurking. I just want to update you on life up here in the foothills. We're all doing fine here in Glen Meadow, The weather is hot ( still ) and is supposed to be 111 this weekend. The air is smoky all over our world ( California ) after over a million acres of wild lands have caught fire ( mostly due to lightning ). But we are very fortunate so far this fire season that there have been no fires in our neck of the woods.

I'm preparing for Inktober this month by researching, planning and sketching out my drawings in advance. I'll post finished work on my Facebook page in October.

If you all are so inclined, give Inktober a try. All you have to do is draw one drawing every day for 31 days and use ink to do it. It can be simple, complex, serious, whimsical, made with pen and ink, ball point pen, fiber-tip pen, brushed ink, color markers or Sharpie. My first year, I used a fiber-tip fine-liner and did very simple cartoon-like drawings. Last year I experimented with pen and ink for the first time. This year, I'm doing pen and ink, but doing a story-line. But you don't have to be that elaborate. It's a great thing to do in light of this COVID-19 lockdown situation (that we are still in here in the world of California). Inktober 2020 is HERE

Also, If you are so inclined, and you want to get your creative juices flowing (my creative juices are fueled by 'jitter-liquid' AKA coffee) consider the challenge of writing a novel during the month of November. YUP! the original 1-month internet challenge that is called NaNoWriMo! I'll be participating in this again this year because...well...this COVID-19 thingie has me stuck at home and what better thing to do then write a novel! It's not like I don't have anything to say. Subeta has several NaNoWriMo forums to help you stay motivated as you progress through this challenge. It's fun!!

Just remember, you don't have to be perfect right out of the chute. You give yourself permission to write poo, or draw poo. It's the writing or the drawing that is the point. I read this forum and there are a lot of creative people here, I just want to be the little fuzzy weasel in the corner who encourages you, loves you and helps you keep creating, especially during these hard times.

I think I'd die if I had to wake up at 6 am every day! When my son was going to school where he had to wake up early like that, I let my husband do it. I tried for the first couple of years of elementary school (which was only 8 am and still too early for me) and he was late so often we decided it was better if he did it 😆

Yes! Wish does have cute things. I never really paid it much attention and about a week ago an ad for Wish popped up on a game I play and I was like, wow that's cute. Can't remember what is was but funny you mention Wish as it just recently made me think I need to go there and check it out. And I will! LOL

I was thinking about sending you some of the dehydrated lentil soup but I'm not sure how it turned out. Have got water on it now seeing if it re-hydrates well. So far it's not. :-P On a break from my convention. I played online almost the whole session I just finished. :-D Have my phone propped up on my Pillow Pad in front of my PC so works perfect!!

Well that sounds like more fun anyway! I miss being able to curl up with a book during the day.

I used to shop on Wish a good bit! Don't buy anything more than $5 XD Just trust me on that one. And don't buy clothes from there either XD I just love their cute little jewelry and pens and stuff. They are AWESOME stickers too.

Yes but going in person does have it's perks! Lots of good food, overnight in a nice hotel and get to meet a lot of great people. But I am sort of glad I didn't have to drive over there. Although, they probably would provide a bus now that I think about it. :-P

Oh yeah I couldn't get up that early for work, either 😆 I've tried several times to start work at 9 am and I can't sustain it for more than a few months before I start to crack. Fortunately I've had a 10 am-7 pm work day at my current job for quite a while and it's been a life saver 😆

the bleached wood frame is very useful. Those wood frames are too wide by themselves, I think, but when I put one of the narrower ones on top of them it gives an effect I really like.
