The little dragon clings to your leg, refusing to leave. After a lot of leg shaking, and protests from the little dragon, you let out a frustrated sigh and decide to continue on. As you make it further along the path, you notice a cave ahead of you and decide to check it out. When you reach the entrance, you see a pedestal sitting in the middle of it, sunlight filtering down on it through a vine ridden gap in the roof. You walk over to the pedestal and see two small velvet bags with tiny dragons embellished on it. You peek inside the first bag and see an evershifting image of dragon themed items. You get the feeling you'll only be able to pull one item out from it.

You decide to look inside the second bag and to your amazement find more treasure! But who would just leave these bags here like this?

As you pack the small bags with the rest of your things, a massive roar suddenly echoes throughout the cave. You look around to see what could have made such a noise, but after seeing nothing, quickly decide this is your chance to escape. It's not until you've passed under the archway and back at the fountain that you notice something odd. Where did the dragon on the archway go?

Suddenly you find yourself at the edge of a body of water in a rather large glade, it almost seens endless, despite the thick wall of trees surrounding it. Wildflowers grew freely in the meadow ahead of the pond, and it isn't until you look at the edge of the other end of the pond that you notice them. Two unicorns, both looking at you with curious yet mischievous eyes, their coats seemed to have an iridescent quality that shifted in the sunlight. Slowly they make their way across the water towards you, their hooves not leaving the slightest ripple on the surface. One of them decide to come right up to you, and as you reach your hand out to touch it, you black out.

As you start to return to consciousness, you try to recall what happened. In the back of your mind, you know you saw something wonderful, something no one else had seen. But what was it? You sit up and beside your belongings, there is a small iridescent bag, embellished with rearing unicorns.

It's not until you gather your things and stand up that you realise you are back at the fountain. How did you get here? As you gaze at the start of the pathway you traversed, you glance at the archway, void of the two unicorns you swore were there when you passed through earlier.

The little creature seems insistent on accompanying you, so you offer it your shoulder for it to ride on, which it gladly hops onto, screeching happily in your ear. It draws quiet as you pass through the archway though, its eyes staring at the stone griffin until it finally passes out of view in which it resumes its squawking. The path ahead twists around the trees and you walk for a while before the trees thin out and you face a steep, rocky path that twists up the side of a cliff. The little griffin flits on your shoulder, seemingly eager to reach the top, so you slowly make the hike up the cliff face. Just as you are about to reach the top after scaling the narrow paths up and a few close calls, the griffin on your shoulder leaps off, squawking in a frenzy and glides out of sight. You quicken your pace, trying to catch him and you are taken aback when the view from the top hits you. What seemed like a small cliff at first, was in fact enormous. The forest you once traversed was far below, and though it looked small from up here, you could see it reach as far as your eyes could see. In fact the meadow you originally had your picnic was nowhere to be seen. You turn your attention back to the frenzied squawking coming from the griffin, who was perched on the edge of an enormous nest. You walk over, what creature possibly needs a nest of this size? As you peer into the nest, a set of eyes peer back at you.

Yet another griffin?! Yet this one was different than its stone-like friend. With a magnificent beak, and glossy feathers, it was an impressive sight, despite being a chick. Your stoney friend comes to perch and your shoulder and squawks at its new friend, who happily trills back. You look around and scattered throughout the nest you find some objects the chick has been chewing on. Eww are those ears and hearts?

You come to the conclusion that you can't leave the poor little griffin alone, and decide to entice it into following you with the griffin heart you found in the nest. The trip back down the cliff doesn't seem to take as long as the trek up and before you know it you are back at the fountain, two griffins in tow. It's not until you gaze back at the path you returned from that you notice the rubble on the ground. You glance up to the space the challenging griffin once stood, now empty. You ponder what could possibly have destroyed such an amazing statue before your attention returns to the jabbering of your two new pets, and how you were going to look after two griffins.

You venture further along the path and it isn't long before you have suddenly worked up a sweat, drips pouring down your forehead. You brush the sweat off absentmindedly, it was forecasted to be a beautiful day today, but surely it wasn't meant to be this hot? After all, it was only spring and summer had not yet reached this part of the earth. You decide to stop and take a break, and find a nice spot over looking a small stream. Hastily you throw your clothes off and jump straight in, breathing out a sigh of relief as your skin finally cools down. You lay in the water for a while before you decide it's probably best to head back. It seemed like if you went any further in the forest, you'd likely cook alive. It doesn't take long to return to the fountain but as you reach the archway, you notice that phoenix that was perched above was now gone, on the ground beneath a giant pile of ash. You walk up and inspect the ash pile and suddenly the ash shifts and changes, something seeming to take form within. Moments later a small screech can be heard from the ash, and as you look closer, small firey wings burst out of the pile.

You stare at the phoenix in wonder, amazed at how such a creature could exist. The little creature looks at you with longing, mistaking you for its parent and suddenly shrills out for comfort. Despite it being afire, it was cool to the touch, and it coos at you as you gather it up in your arms. You check the ash pile again, and somehow, items have materialized within the ashes.

As you pack the last of the things into your bag, you start the long journey home with a new friend in your arms. Despite the joy of a new friend, your mind can't help but wonder what happened to the statue that once sat atop of the archway.
