honestly? i've managed to scrounge my way up to 9 wins, but it's as if i lack that last push of damage for the 10th and final [necessary in the achievement prize-sense] win. would different weapons make that final dent?

my current build is (the trident is just there as a filler; this is a setup i've been recommended alongside a strategy) with these stats Level: 1,519 // Strength: 3,711 // Defense: 3,507 // Speed: 3,334 // Health: 5,361

or do i just stay at leaving it up to luck, you reckon? because at this point i've consulted with battle chat a fair bit and i've just about heard everything i can about rouland

I used a all of the Cobalt Eternals in place of freezer scrolls. They always work and they block many of the icons Rouland does. Rouland doesn't massively increase stats like Devorah does, so swriching in and out Cronus/Blessed Tridents can kill the odd double one hundred wind icon attack while at the same time make sure you are faster enough than he is to still make my BONA and Parched crystals work against his freeze.. Risky, but not as risky as Lady of the Waters. I like it because it got me to ten wins with my strongest five pets and eight with the next, without requiring many quits and restarts.

I use Fatal Fire as a nifty little bomb scroll to fill in odd corners of any scrollset. I used Fatal Fire against Mirror Ghoul, it does fire and the other two weapons I used against him also did a only fire punching through its defenses. FF also blocks two of its strongest icons. I find that FF is also useful as a substitute for using Maniacal plus Cronus with other Challengers too.

: Have you tried swapping out Perilous Whirlpool from your first scroll slot for a better scroll, like Cobalt Eternal or Spacial Abyss? They would make much better substitute than the Perilous Whirpool. Better yet, if you can borrow a The Void Scroll (but I guess you should have one if you can beat Rouland 9 times?). It eats up lots of your AP, I know, but anything of these three is better than PW really.

i put PW there because i had the spare AP and didn't want to waste a shriek when using the helmet as well. the PW acts like an insurance for a freeze more than anything, really. i do believe i have a Void in there somewhere. i have neither of the other scrolls you mention, but i'm going to look into what they're going to take to make/acquire. i'll have a look about adding Void in PW's place as well. thank you!

I have both Spacial Abyss and Cobalt that you can borrow if you want. I also have a Fatal Fire which provides protection against his fire and dark icons while possibly doing some damage. Let me know if you want to borrow

NoFlaik is great for amulet drops. But I guess you all know that? Im up to 20 wins and every 2nd battle I get another tome.

i'd certainly be up for borrowing Spacial Abyss since you're offering! i reckon it covers more bases than Cobalt, no? i think i may have a fatal fire as well from once upon a time.

here you go! Trade Lot i'm eyeing up the reviver this very moment :) the few times i've tried using the trident with natasha or ME it's only gone badly, even though - from what i gather - it should be a decent icon blocker, so, yeah, it's mainly just sitting there.

In your opinion, what's the better weapon combo...the Trident with Natasha or the ME with Natasha?

: I’d say if you’ve got enough health for an occasional nasty surprise (his wind hits), then perhaps a Dark + Fire or Magma + Fire combo is a bit better, since he doesn’t seem to do wind every turn. This is also true if you can afford enough Shrieks to tank his wind hits.

Having said that, in retrospect I think there was a reason why I put Trident in my set and swapped out the Helmet. So it must have had a purpose for me. I’d say if you’re not sure, only use Trident when Rouland is frozen or chain frozen. It’s still a heavy hitter and comes with a nice blessing that once activated, will take your hand off Cronus for a while for a change.

can i just say that it was THIS post about the trident that made me put the trident straight back into my set immediately after removing it? and now look where we are!!

i didn't have AP enough for the Spacial actually, so it got to sit pretty in my scroll library; i swapped out the PW for a fatal fire instead, since it did dmg as well as block, which served a good purpose for the first freeze+bomb hit. then kept hitting with the trident and ME, and dark water potion to get those extra icons in.
