I actually like holiday themed challenges, and themes and set items to use. I like them all! I really like limited challenges where you can only use certain items, those really challenge you to be creative.

Start with the easy part - while prizes are nice, they aren't all that important. Its the least reason I choose to participate.

I enjoy most challenges and if I don't participate its most often because I run out of time, not for lack of interest. I participate in a lot of challenges, not just yours, and LOL occasionally do stuff onsite not related to HAs, if you can believe that :P

These comments aren't necessarily related to any challenges you've done, but all HA challenges in general.

1. The few challenges that aren't to my taste usually involve music - watch/listen then make an HA based on the song.
2. Something too open ended - hard to come up with a concrete example. But it comes down to time, if I need to research something, make some choices before I even start, then have nothing limiting in the wardrobe so I have to troll through all 33K official items and 38K CWs, it just takes too long and I never get around to it, even if the theme is interesting.

So, basically what I do like is short and sweet - limited stuff. Starting with a specific item, or an alphabet challenge (can only make HAs with items starting with "s"), or can only use Delish, or Subeautique items. Can only use CWs, or only official items or limited to what's in your wardrobe. Limits are great because I spend less time just looking through stuff (boring) and more time actually making the HA (fun).

Personally, I really enjoy working with hard to use items, but I know that's not to most people's taste.

I do enjoy themes, but again, I prefer them limited - for example your favorite star wars character, rather than just your fav character. Or make a character from "Rocky Horror" but you can't use any item from the "Sinsational Horror Supplies" etc. Seasonal/holiday themes are great because they start out limited.

First of all: Do peeps really complain about the prizes? o-o So they don't take part in anything with no competition, and anything with random generators because there's no guarantee to win? And in the end they just competing for "i need this specific CW wishlist item"? This sound so ... sad?

Honestly I don't care much for prizes. For me 1-2 mil WL items are fine, but having fun is more important! 😊

As for the themes: I don't care much for music challenges, or for something too specific like cosplaying for one defined fandom. This is mostly because my interests seem to be quite niche xD Seasonal contests are cute, but sometimes hard to do if you celebrate in a different way than the US and/or Subeta. Oh, and my personal pet peeve: I haaaate "write a story"-challenges because every time I need to come up with something in English I realize how clumsy it sounds 😆

I do like challenging themes! Limitations (via sets, certain letters or colors) are awesome! Limit my money! Let me only use what I've got in my wardrobe! Give me the most hard-to-use items you can imagine! Stuff like that really wakes up my creativity.

Those random thoughts aside: As I said before I really do like your challenges! They're fun, they make me want to participate (if I find the time xD) and in the end, that's what counts. I hope you two keep up the good work~ ❤️

Personally I like ones that cut down on the amount of items in the wardrobe you are allowed to use, like the alphabet one or one where you must use something with a specific word in the name.

I'm not a huge fan of holidays unless they're truly secular, and even then I rarely have good ideas or feelings for them. Even halloween/moro themed ones are too broad for me and i just freeze up from too many ideas to pick from. I also don't enjoy food themed challenges, just gets too weird for me somehow.

I like being given a colorscheme or an aesthetic to match, a visual requirement to work towards rather than a thematic one.

I've never been a fan of the location-based ones, I always feel like I'm gonna end up inadvertently racist if i don't know enough about the place.

As others have said, music is hard. I'm not great at translating the feeling i get from audio into a visual medium, and adhd means im likely to just skip a challenge that requires me to watch a video.

I like the IDEA of the ones that were based off of movies, but the ones I saw were never ones I had seen before. My taste in movies is kinda weird tho, my faves tend to end up either children's movies (Anastasia, most Disney, etc) or nerd culture stuff (Marvel movies), as well as being a big fan of Ghibli movies. So the ones i saw (live action ones that are broadly popular or have a specific dedicated following) are not in the realm of movies i know well.

Regarding Prizes: while things worth 1-5mil aren't massively exciting for me, and I will put more effort into something that gets me a rare wishlist item or a CW, I'm not gonna hold it against you for running out of prizes. I'm likely to still do contests regardless of prizes as long as there aren't Too Many contests running all at once from other sources as well.

Edit: The existence of prizes IS actually important to me, but mostly cause it adds to the feeling of accomplishment for winning. So if you run out of prizes I'll still compete for random junk items you got from the wizard's quests today, it just adds to the fun of it.

I love all challenges/contest because my fav thing here in Subeta is making avvies so I'm always open to enter. I don't mind how expensive or not the prizes are. As I said, I do this just for fun.

About themes, I do have my favs and not so fav. ie, I like to make HA with some restrictions (not cw, no more than "x" number of items, items starting with an specific letter, etc). I also like themed HA (holidays, characters, mythology, etc). Then my least fav are those challenges where you must watch a music video or write an story (because my first language is not English lol).

To be honest, I like most kind of challenges for HAs. It is fun to try different styles.

Personally though, I kinda like it when contests restrict cws, make you center your HA around a specific item, or force you to use items only in your wardrobe. It is thanks to these that I use items that I forgot about. I love it when there is a specific theme, holiday, or color scheme to play with.

As for the prizes, I don't mind if I get something "fancy" or not. If anything, sometimes the reward is getting ideas from everyone's HAs.

I like the holiday theme challenges and would probably like some other kind, like maybe an HA inspired on a song or music video, or themes like news of the world. Idk. lol

whatever prize you chose is fine by me.

I'm not picky at all when it comes to HA contests: both items and themes work for me and I think the 1-2M prize is good enough. I do think there should be a participation limit, however. Too many times I see the same creators winning every week (in other competitions) and it gets disheartening.

For me the prices are secondary. The cherry on top you might say. I like contests that are a lot more challenging than most. Themed items, limited number of items we can use, holiday challenges, and so on.

What I don't like is a contest that lasts for a long time. I usually delete the looks I make for contests because I don't want it clogging up my outfit section. So I will not enter a contest that lasts for more than two weeks.
