i just got a score that would put me into the top ten (1,456, i think it was? can't remember) a couple minutes ago and i sent the score in. i haven't received the high score achievement yet but I'll try waiting it out incase it triggers. my last high score was 1,078 (i'm currently 15th place)

some odd issues reported here: Spectrail controls wobbly? Different movement than inputs?

Chrome on desktop, Windows 7
Character and trail don't follow the same path. Orbs end up bunching up/spacing out and drifting off the grid. This leads to times where I run into myself even though I made what should have been a safe path. (e.g. a U-turn: traveling right, move up, move left; moving like stairs: up, right, up, right)

FIXES
I've made it so blobs and rocks have to spawn a small distance away from the player. I think it's at a good setting right now, but this can be tweaked for instance if it's still too frustrating and the distance needs to be made larger.
The weird problem with the player getting knocked off course by blobs, causing you to "teleport" or travel in a curved line, has been fixed.
ONGOING
This game does not work in Safari because Safari has very poor support for HTML5 audio. The audio fails to load and thus crashes the game before it starts. This is sort of Safari's problem but I'm looking into workarounds to at least make it playable, such as having a version of the game without sound.
I'm looking into if it's possible to make collisions more accurate so it doesn't look like you ran into a rock from several pixels away.

Thank you for the updates! I played it a few times and haven't noticed getting knocked off course or anything.
I did encounter a few instances where the nightmare rock still popped up directly in front of me. In easy or even medium mode they might have been avoidable, but in hard I didn't have enough time to react to get out of the way in time. (I even got a rock spawn in front of me right after collecting a rainbow prism, so that stung a little.) Would it be possible to make that distance a little further?
I also was wondering if it would be possible to adjust the distance by difficult level. For example, easy might have a "no spawn" radius of 10px, while hard might be 30px.
can you check please the spawning rate of the rainbow? I think I've never saw one since the first day of the game..
Changing it based on difficulty is a great idea. I'll play around and see what I can do. Thanks <3
I actually ran into a rainbow while testing, but I double-checked for you anyway. You're just unlucky. ...but not TOO unlucky, as both the rainbow and prism are supposed to be very rare.

OK, I played it a bit now and is it just me or hard mode feels a lot faster now? The "push" glitch doesn't seems to happen anymore. Hurray. And the trail is closer together now, which is good.
The game is still missing the "Games played today: 0 out of 10" message in its page that all other games have.
Hey Bug-u, is there any way you could add the option of using WASD or something similar for controls in Spectrail? It's been fun to play again, but my keyboard squashes the up and down arrow keys so that they end up being half the size of the left and right arrow keys and smashed into the same row, and this obviously makes gameplay a little more difficult. It'd be great to have some alternative control schemes for players with this same issue.
To be fair, if I turn off num lock I can use the arrow keys on my number pad, but they're situated on the 8, 4, 6, and 2 keys, so the fact that there's an entire (useless) key in the way (the 5 key) makes it equally as awkward. 😅 Plus, if I remember correctly, I think there's a lot of laptop keyboards that have the squashed arrow keys like mine, but that don't have dedicated number pads?
Anyway, thank you! It's been fun and weirdly nostalgic playing a flash-like game again :) (And if anything I said didn't make sense please let me know! I've been having brain-zaps lately, so concentration and wording can be really difficult ;w; )
