Were you freezing? You have enough AP to put in some freeze scrolls to let you get a few more rounds in without him defending against you :)

If you don't have any, there are some that can be earnt from defeating Mama Mush, Daemon & General Error

I just got my third Void scroll into my default set...I see people were doing well with Shriek of Despair scrolls, but I didn't go on the forums while the event was still ongoing, or I would have thought of that myself. (I do have one or two Shrieks in my library, but I forgot what it did besides the -3% HP, lol).

My main battle method against Hydragellos this year was "just click a whole bunch while not even looking at the screen", which didn't make for too impressive of an average damage score, but it worked well enough.

It pays to drop by the battle forums occasionally, strategy can help save you a lot of clicks, Shrieks are great to have. I have a full scroll set saved with my once per battle freeze scrolls, so that if an opponent can be chain-frozen, I can opt to enter with that one without having to think about it. Some harder opponents can also be frozen, so putting in a little time to sort out your strategy can be really beneficial :)

So that prize breakdown kinda makes ">this post feel pretty bait-and-switchy. I know I saw tons of people stop at three mil damage feeling pretty confident it would get them all the non-Core prizes.

If not for that post, I know I personally would have taken my secondary pets further so they wouldn't miss out.

To me it always made sense that if they upped the requirement for the Core, then the other prizes would have to scale too depending on how many people made it to 15 mil or even to 10 mil or so while trying to make it to the goal.

It seemed weird to say that the prize requirements would be about the same as last time when the main requirement for the Core was so much higher. But I can't fault other users for that, since it's kind of what the admins said...

Oh.... I would have done way more than 3 mil on my 2nd pet if I knew it would be a higher requirement for the book. Not like I didn't have the time and ability to : /

I.. was worried but kinda guessed the prizes would go to 7.5m for all but core, kinda surprised to see another at 10m. Probs would’ve gone to 7.5 if I knew but oh well, there’s always next time
