In the boss fights wide based defensive items are a catchall to reduce the amount of damage incoming since the boss is dumb and can't adjust its strategy based on what we do to it.
However where when I use my T13 pet my damage gets reduced by something like an 8 of everything defense, small pets get completely walled, making what was already going to be a short fight into a fruitless fight as well that they end up doing 0 damage in.
What I would propose would be to make it only block Ice, Magma, Wind, Earth, Water
That makes it so that it is not blocking Light Dark Fire and Physical, which are some of the main icons on Gelatin Slayer and Hydra Tooth.
Not only that but small pets could at least make a plan that will get them to do more damage.
More bonus points to just making it a scroll so people can plan around it even more, but that might be too big of a switch up the far into this years fight (maybe next year.).
I chose the icons based on which budget options would get through him. Not based on any particular weapon that I own (which i'm sure i'm about to be accused of). The important thing isn't the types of icons, the important thing is that small pets be able to make a plan that doesn't result in 0 damage.

I support this idea. It's not like small pets would run away with the big prizes by doing this.
No support.
Changing it mid-event is problematic.
I agree that this was an oversight, with infinite hp bosses. When it had a finite amount, the damage reduction was necessary to slow the big guys inevitable demise.
There are ramifications for changing it now though. As in, more cores going out than expected. And we can't push the damage needed to get a core. So this will be discussed tonight.
After a quick discussion, we agreed that smaller pets should be given the chance to deal more damage. So the defense has been significantly nerfed, and given a moderate attack to compensate.
They just nerfed the absorption a bunch so now its not as much of a wall as it was before.

So more cores will be going out. If you put in the time, works for me. Something the little pets can participate in.

glad I did my part before the nerf, but thanks for thinking about the smaller battlers
I mean, the Cores are still one per account anyway, so it's not like anyone can get more than that by using smaller pets in addition to their main ones. This is just more beneficial to the people whose only battle pet isn't a Tier 11-13 that can do a significant amount of damage per turn/battle.
And anyway, if someone is willing to sit through a few thousand battles constantly clicking and healing, I feel like they've earned a Core just as much as someone with a tough pet who can crank out 15 mil damage in only 100 or so battles.
Thank you to both of you.

What was the question?
You may want to put this in the news. "All your hard work seems to be making the gel less durable" or some other hand waving. That way you get less bitching from people who don't read battle forum, subscribe to the hashtag, "only the elite were told" issues.
sounds very reasonable I started with my biggest a little yestreday and was doing well and long, I won't do much with my little ones, I lack the time. But dedicated small pet owners should get a chance as well!
