We could take Lihue home yesterday evening. She seems to suffer from an acute renal failure because the other laboratory and ultrasound findings don't point in the direction of a chronic one which would support our idea that she was a normal healthy cat until Thursday, playing and frolicking around.

We are waiting for the urine culture right now to see if this could have been caused by an infection of the urinary tract which seems to be most common in female cats from 10 years up as an ascending infection from the bladder. Her creatinine and phosphat levels were ultra high and she got two days of vet care with intravenous infusions and drugs and diagnostic. She still has to get one or two infusions per day yet I can do this at home with subcutaneous fluids (Ringer Lactat). She is on other drugs, too, to drop the phosphat and the proteinuria. However, the creatinine level dropped already from 9,5 to 5 which is a good outcome for such a short therapy. She isn't her usual self right now, hidding a bit every now and then when she imagines she has to have another round of drugs or food yet she isn't drinking more than normal nor has poly- or oliguria and we really hope with some intensive care, she'll come around for living some more years with us. Acute renal failure has mostly a better prognosis than the chronic one yet you never know, could also be the acute leads into a chronic at last. Yet we try to stay optimistic! We love her so much, she is our little fairy.

Thank you for asking, love. Lihue gest here sbc fluids and drug therapy and she isn't more bad yet a long way from good so we doesn´t know if our beautiful fairy will pull through. There is still a spark in her and she gets new bloodwork done on Monday so I hope she will live through the weekend and perhaps even get a little better. Filling up the body fluids needs some time, we know this from former kidney failure cats.
