Here's an example to illustrate what I mean.
The Item Directory search gives the option "Sort By - Time added to site (Item ID)"
I searched for Zombie Beer. The result was -
Zombie Beer Shop Search | Account Search No one really knows what goes in this beer, but it sure is strong!
The words "Zombie Beer" are a link to -
Name Zombie Beer Item ID 151208 Rarity r62 Description No one really knows what goes in this beer, but it sure is strong! Official price 480 Item Uses Food
Now I've got the item ID, how do I find the actual date it was added to the site? (day, month, year)
I'm probably missing something obvious so I'm prepared to feel stupid. :D
I don't think it's possible? They are displayed in a manner ordered by ID, but it doesn't have a exact time stamp You can try finding the source of the item, like a news post, but there's no easy way I guess.
There is no easy way. However if you really need to know its doable. With your example: Zombie Beer. Find the page its on in the item directory by trial and error. I started at page 500 and checked Item IDs on that page. Then skipped ahead, and little back and forth. Tracked it to page 570 in the building.
Then I checked what else was on that page and found Z Coalition Poster which I looked up at subetaLodge to discover that its 2012 zombie plot item. So then go look in the Feb 2012 news archive. Find the Beer on February 21, 2012. Luckily its one of the listed items, if you were looking for say BBQ Bone Chips, it wouldn't be so easy.

If that table in the database has automatic timestamps, then it's up to Subeta to allow them to be accessible to the public. However, if auto timestamps are disabled for reasons such as performance, it will be more difficult, perhaps impossible to obtain them.
Thank you for all the work you put in looking for the Zombie Beer.
The option to "Sort By - Time added to site (Item ID)" is a little bit misleading when the result doesn't include an actual date.
Hm...
The reason I chose that wording is because item ID does show you what items are newer versus older. I know a lot of people use the item directory to look for new items when we have holidays or events, so I thought that would be clearer than just putting "Item ID" - since it might not be obvious that item IDs correspond to the order items were added to the website.
I do see how the current wording could make you think there will be a timestamp on the items though. Do you have any suggestions how we could tweak the wording to make it clearer?

How about putting a brief explanation under the Search Filters heading? eg "Item ID shows which items are newer versus older. The result doesn't include a timestamp giving an actual date."
Hmm... Would you be willing to make a suggestions topic about this? We're open to the idea but would like to see some discussion first. It's a bit long so I feel like not everyone might like if that were added.

On SubetaLodge we just use Time Created (new to old) Time Created (old to new)
It occurred to me today that if you really want to know the date, you can find out a ballpark in this way:
You now have a reference guide to what year items were created in. I think it's safe to assume that New Year's items were added to site at the end of December, so anything before that ID # was created in the year prior.
If you wanted more specifics, you could add on Lypsyl's method and try to pinpoint one or two things per month in that year through the news post archives. Now you know specific dates, and you can say with reasonable certainty what month of a year something was created in based on whether the ID was before or after the item ID that you know. However this may take a while to accumulate and would probably be tedious, so it's up to you whether that would be worth it to you or not.
With the years method, it will still take a little bit of tedious time to make the list, but not as much, and you can probably guesstimate around what part of the year an item was released based on its closeness to either year ID (such as if an item was created in 2005, is it closer to the 2005 IDs or the 2006 IDs?). In later years when holidays became a staple, you would have another ballpark marker - i.e. things that have to do with "love" or "zombies" were probably released around February; things with "beer" and "pirates" probably around September/October, etc.
I wanted to find out when The Lost Skeleton opened on the site. After Lypsyl's reply I had a go at finding other ways to do something like this. It can be done through google but a lot depends on how many News posts a shop is mentioned in and what order google presents the results in. Go Outside was easy -
I put - go outside site:subeta.net - in the google search box (I didn't want results from Subeta Wiki included.)
Grand Opening of GoOutside was at the top of the results page.
Lypsyl said the beer was 21st Feb 2102. I then went to the Subeta Wiki. After a lot of trial and error I discovered that - "2012 saw the start of a new plot: The Shadowglen Underground." - was on the page for the Great Pandemic.
Finding the date for many individual items rather than a shop, though, would require methods that you and Lypsyl described.
