I think this is a cute idea, but I would hold off on the ultrasound/heartbeat images personally.

I don't have any living children, but I did lose a baby very late in pregnancy.

I obviously do NOT believe that this will happen to you. The odds are very much in your favour. And you have lots and lots of us here sending you good thoughts and prayers and love.

But I think that if you are going to give a present "from" the baby before she is born, it would be better to go with the self-care ideas, just in case something does go wrong.

Sorry for being a downer, and by the way, this was a really long time ago, and I'm pretty much okay now...I just don't think that would be something I or my ex would have wanted to have around all the time in the immediate aftermath, and I'm very aware that different people react to things differently, but there's no way to know unless it happens, so I hope you never DO know.

How about a rocking chair? This could be put in her room or even the the living room. A family gift actually .

You could copy your most recent ultrasound picture onto photo paper and frame it. If you have some photoshop skills you can do something like this:

Also if a framed picture is too boring, pleases like Walmart and Walgreens can put your picture on a journal, blanket, pillow, etc. :)

Maybe a parenting book for dads or something like a tshirt or mug with Papa Bear, Daddy Shark, etc.

I would say give him something he’ll enjoy. A lot of suggestions have been for cute baby items (which are cute and awesome), but I think a great gift would something that he’ll specifically enjoy. An idea would potentially be a bag of really good coffee with a message from the baby like, “I know I’ll be a handful and tire you out, so here’s a little something to help you stay awake once I’m born!” Something that he’ll enjoy, but with a personal connection to the baby and your situation.

Perhaps you could create a 'letter from baby' for him to open and read. Make it sweet. "Hi Daddy, I really can't wait to come out and meet you! We'll have so much fun together! I know there will be times you'll be scared of what to do, but that's okay because Mommy will be there to help. I look forward to blowing bubbles on a warm summer day, and building snowmen in the winter. I can't wait to snuggle under the covers and read our favorite books together..." Make it your own. Put in things that you envision that the 2 of them would do together as she grows up. You can put in other little things like, "Promise me you'll scare the monsters away that live under the bed so I can sleep." Or "Please be patient if I make a big mess. I may be a little clumsy at first." Or here's a good one, "Remember to give Mommy a break once in a while." LOL Anyway, it's just a thought. :)

What about a framed pic of her ultrasound, with a fancy "dad" type frame? Something he could put on a work desk or mantle somewhere.

My family love humor, and when my sister was pregnant we saw some funny books we thought would be hilarious for the new dad.

As for the gift something cute like a shirt or mug that says Soon to be Dad! Little bear and big bear matching shirts! His favorite childhood book to read to the soon to be here baby!

I would just get him something you know he's been wanting this year and say one gift is from you and the other is from the baby. I don't know if he's specifically been excited to do x thing or have x thing for when the baby arrives, but that would be the gift. For example, maybe he has been wanting a new camera to take really good pictures of you and the baby.

I would get him either 1) a gag-type gift, such as Being a Great Dad for Dummies, with a note from the baby implying something like "you're going to need this" / "I want you to be prepared" or 2) something related to a hobby or joy of his now that he may not have as much time for immediately after the baby arrives to encourage him to take time for himself

I love your idea of giving a Christmas gift from the baby! There are so many things you could do! How about a special book, like this one?

get him something with the baby's name! A key chain, coffee mug, bracelet/necklace, etc.!

how about a matching t-shirt+onesie for dad and bub with a cute/funny print on them, and you could hand-write (with your non-dominant hand so it's messy and kid-like) a little note from bub to go along with it saying something like how much they can't wait to meet him and do lots of fun things together in their new outfits.

Something that's more for/about your partner would be a better gift. Maybe something engraved, like a watch or a fancy pen, depending on your husband's taste.

Otherwise, a cute note "from the baby" to go along with any gift would be well-received. Presents should be about the receiver, not the giver.

I appreciate the suggestions! I like the idea of a "how to book" for a fun little christmas gift this year. (from the baby of course) ... to 's point... I will be getting him meaningful gifts 100% for him from me :)
