But yeah. I'm not surprised Amber isn't going to every single thread and posting this there, it's gotten out of hand. I'm flabbergasted that people think that posting the same thing over and over again isn't spam. Imean, I can paste&post a quote from an article I'm reading over and over in the farming threads, or in any other non-necro thread on Subeta. It's way more than 3 words! But it does not contribute anything to a conversation, it's off-topic and it still falls under spam because I'm not posting with the intent of having a conversation, I'm just posting random shit to get the goodies.

How do you check the staff posts?

I agree that it has gotten out of hand. Really a news announcement or something that would go across the top of the page would be helpful, because then people would be able to see it.

I just recently realized that I don't even need to post in the dancing forums at this point. The way dancing is set up, you can dance with anybody and it really is in their best interest to accept if they want the trinkets. So at this point I don't even need to keep posting to volunteer and get trinkets. Maybe with kissing it was a little more necessary. Edit: I forgot about being invited to dance. So I guess posting on dance threads is still necessary.

There's a link on the news page. But also if you're on the forums main page, it's right up there on the top row, in the navbar with Home, Subscribed Threads, Recent Topics, etc. It's in the dropdown menu from the forums, too.

This is honestly my only beef with them. They're a nice idea, but this part kinda kills the fun. I understand that this is another way of having something like the Free Shop (which is known to create lag, if I remember correctly), but needing to wait for restocks as though the boxes are an actual shop seems a bit off. I understand where the site wants to go with these, but I find that this aspect needs to be revised. Otherwise, love the boxes, love the prizes, and thank you so much for the free stuff :) ^^^this right here.

Personally, I'd rather you have a chance to get them when asking someone to dance or whatever. Encourages participating in the event without having to rely on someone else, or make entire threads literally titled "spam for boxes" or whatever.

I personally like the boxes a lot more than the free shop. I feel like it gives everyone the opportunity to get a chance to get something. I have a slow computer and I am rarely able to get anything from the free shop. By the time I click on it, it is sold out.

I also like how this encourages users to engage on the forums. I understand the frustration with the spamming aspect though, but I feel like it could be corrected. They just need to announce that the "forum farming" type boards are not allowed if they were to do it again.

I like the giftboxes. They're fun to open no matter what's inside (er..well except when there's nothing inside).

As for spamming - well there's a thousand threads out there that aren't about conversing or adding to the conversation. Check out nearly every thread of the games forum - what did the hustler give you? isn't any kind of conversation! And those are the most active threads on site. If Subeta is going to force us to be "social" by making social achievements and/or a forum shop and/or giftboxes, some us less social types are simply going to find ways to get those achievements without being social.

100% glad they are putting a stop to the spamming. I am honestly surprised they didn't think spamming would pop up as a result of this

Also I am disliking the fact that I have 5 boxes in my inventory that I can not open because the pool is empty.

Yeah, what did the Staff think would happen when you reward spamming? Even if I reply to every post in games or whatever, it sure feels like I'm spamming to me. I just don't like talking on the forums. But if I don't spam the forums, I won't get any of the prizes . . .

It's the whole "we don't want to reward hoarding" thing that inadvertently encourages hoarding eyeroll

I feel kinda bad... I just liked getting the boxes cause I have an addiction to chance items. Plus I stick to the topics for getting the boxes. I can’t see why people wouldn’t like this.

is it the threads themselves or the particular way people were posting (i.e. copy/paste and spamming the post button). Because I posted occasionally in those threads, but just a comment now and then.

I'm adding a remark though, that posting stuff from dailies, games, or timer related activities isn't spam. I've seen posts from the box farming threads where people post the same blurb multiple times during one minute, and yet I can't even send more than 1 sMail a minute to prevent spamming. There needs to be a standard here.

I mean the intent was to get people talking and active on the forums....not these farming threads. I have gotten some great wl items from them and I can't complain.

Oh I know they aren't spamming, and I've actually used those threads to try to figure out if something is glitching. The rotating minion shop or a particular booster not going out during Shinwa quests as two recent examples. So the info does have value.

But they certainly aren't conversations and they often feel like spamming. Though I agree that's very different from what was happening on the farming threads.

just gonna throw it out there that not everyone wants to be social and forcing people into a social situation isn't really cool. anxiety exists and makes it a bit hard to just throw yourself into a conversation you never actually wanted to be part of
