One of the new polls up got me thinking - not many of our NPCs have adopted pets! They've clearly been very busy with their various jobs and quests and events, so I think we can help them out.

Which petless NPCs need which pet? You can give a reason if you like! Possibly suggest names, although you'd have to send them in secret to me! Or you could suggest the KIND of name (silly, planty, sweet, long etc)

We can also talk about who currently has pets and giving them custom designs if they don't have one yet. Maybe a future user competition?

- We've thought about that before! It's one of those strange things that I can't even blame on time because Oatmeal is also technically a minion. I feel like Jaxon would have a harvester, particularly after the recent Subetapedia article.

- Ooh, maybe a bhakoru? They sort of have a shield on their heads. I could imagine him riding one like a steed. I'm for some reason picturing Kain like that little fox thing riding the old english sheepdog in Labyrinth. Maybe an escalade? Or a devonti?!

- that's a great idea! I'm creating Batista his own account so he can have a pet (we only tend to give NPCs their own accounts if they are going to be visible in a plot or something - but they'll more likely end up in plots/events if we feel more drawn to them and pets really help that!)

Now what to name his Terracoon?

Verish seems the kind of terracoon to pretend to be asleep while they're actually in on the game. Very sneaky, but well trained. Will only obey her companion, though!

: It's gotta be the cat. The cat feels very right - Esme would need something more independent because she's a busy lady, and cats are less messy. Well, her cat is at least. Now for a name - something from the fabric world or fashion related I think?

- I did originally think antlephore actually, but I think they're quite small, although honestly we can play with size on most pets. I think the devonti has that goat stubbornness I like in a pet of Kain's, but the antlephore does have the run away vibe that I think Kain has sometimes! TOUGH ONE

- I immediately thought fester but then wondered if a mallarchy could do the job. Probably not. An irion could be the best of both worlds - as a mount AND as a bug protector :O

- oh heck, I love Battle Cat - surely he'd be a tigrean though! The idea of him riding a tigrean makes me laugh though. (Yes, he has to ride his pet, it's in my head now!)

- oh my gosh don't apologise I love this headcanon! And hey, this is basically a group effort where we all get to create more pets, right? It's way fun to think about. (And yes they can have more than just 1 pet! Kain is getting a LOT of suggestions)

- it's something we used to do, but only the really notable characters I think. Some of the pets do have custom overlays already! But as far as time goes, if we're drawing a pet it will generally be a new site one - which is why I think this would make a great user competition once we have a few more NPCs paired off with pets.

- Emma has three pets! Mayweed the glade popoko, Stompy the glade mortiking, and Scootle the common Scootle :)

- no, because they're a different sentience level and anthro 'pets' are that way because of their interaction with the spirit world (through Shengui Guo). They no longer have the ability to be paired to an owner.

I don't think any of them would have a pet, either - but possibly a minion. (We don't have a way to display JUST a minion at this time, though! And I don't think I have the strength to choose between all our minions for some of our anthro pets)

- Elwood does have Slicey the harvest harvester xD But also Celano the custom DM magnus. I actually don't know the story behind Celano!

- that's adorable. Where Johannes lives is a lovely area for a bovyne too. I'm feeling it for sure! (And yes! I've seen the cows listening to the brass band, it's DARLING)

- I think that would be the simplest place for it, we'll see how it looks, if it doesn't look too busy I'd love to put them there. And of course more than one pet would win! I'd probably just add all the ones that looked good to be honest. I love user creativity and I love our NPCs having pets.

- kain is way more popular than I'd realised, I definitely agree two pets for him at least! Maybe three. Maybe a whole army of pets.
