donated a billboard (to me) to announce the ping groups to the general populace! I'm not sure what the character limit is, but does anyone have an opinion what we put on it? I obviously can't fit all the strains... If you leave it up to me, my best idea so far (as of tonight) is like: Do you want to be a Volunteer Infection Specialist this Survival? The Volunteer Clinic is back and you can help! ...and then instructions on searching for probably #call4nvlb (by name though because helpfully you can't search for the ping tags themselves) because that will have links to everything else they need (including the chat group). Does anyone know if I can just put a link on the billboard?

Trying to plan ahead instead of just poking buttons until something happens this time. XD

I was also thinking a thread (basically just a preview of the directory) in General Chit-Chat (or anywhere if there's a better place?) introducing the ping groups and inviting non-nvlb members to volunteer? The Directory is 's baby and you're welcome to it, but I'm pretty sure I can handle the announcement before Survival hits if you don't want to.

We could make a NVLB ad in the Foroum Groups forum, and advertise our subgroups in that way as well, but I'll go sMail a mini-mod before during that to make sure that advertising multiple groups as one group is allowed. Maybe we can link our billboard to that thread.

We could also make a generic screaming about Survival thread in General Discussion and we can just have the ping groups in our signatures. I'm a little leery about direct advertising in General but we can still sneak it in.

Have you used a billboard before? I don't even know what the rules are. XD

whew! it looks like advertising our group is exactly what we're supposed to be using billboards for, I was a bit nervous for a moment. XD

At any rate, it won't be a link so we'll have to give easy-to-follow directions to one of the forum groups...

I got the go-ahead from the mini-mod to make a small directory of our ping groups on the Ping Group forum. Looking at the other threads though, I feel like maybe this is something I need to put a little bit of thought into. Yikes.

My thought is this advertising will help anyone who didn't sign up for the social group in the off-season, but is already amped up and looking forward to biting at Survival? I expect the majority of the sign-ups are going to be off your biting directory post when people actually come looking to help out and/or be bitten. But there's no harm getting the word out ahead of the day so early adopters can avoid the rush.

I mostly want a hub for the billboard since I think you can probably make it link to a thread. It would kind of silly if you couldn't.

But yeah, figured it oculdn't hurt just to have our list of pings somewhere, and if we bump it every now and again, it's all year around advertising (outside of holidays, that is). The other groups strike me as exclusive though, so I feel almost out of place there.

Oh, I meant the text can't have links 'cuz it's just a static image, but the banner itself could (and probably is actually) a button to go somewhere. It could just link to the #call4nvlb group? That's where I've got all the quick-reference info and links to everything else...

I think it might be easier to explain everything in a thread, where we have much more characters to use, than try to use one of the groups.

We have a billboard which we are going to use to advertise the group and all of the smaller strain groups. It will link to this thread with the above banner. Does anybody have any thoughts before I try to apply for the billboard?
