I just finished my master's degree in Technology Leadership... and I'm working part-time in the meat dept of a grocery store. The struggle is real. facepalm

I've submitted a slew of resumes... nothing. So... I decided to take the company up on its offer. It's a Fortune 500 company... the biggest grocery store chain in the states. And they want me in both logistics AND management. I have my pick.

It's just not what I wanted to do really. Work-life balance... not so great. But the pay and benefits are very nice.

Anyway... sorry for the off-topic rambling. It's just... ugh! 😆

The big thing with that offer is that hopefully it will lead to better things down the road. All you need is a foot in the door in that type of position to begin to show your worth to the other prospective jobs where you might be able to have the pay, benefits, AND work-life balance. I worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years before I had a company take a chance on me for something else where I have all of those three key factors-- now that I'm there? I'm neeeeeevah going back XD

I'm a restaurant refugee myself. Over 10 years... 6 of which was in management. I also owned my own coffee shop for a time... sold it and used the profits to go back to school. Strange coincidence that this company is grocery and food-processing focused. My resume is a bit more on-point for them than any other company.

Hey, what's a few more years of 70-hour work weeks? I've only been doing it for... as long as I can remember! 😆 Like you said, it's a foot in the door.

Lately I have been trying to quest a lot to save up for things, but the prices are inflated, my IRL currency has deflated, and my bachelor's thesis is taking so much time, so I have taken a forced time-out from saving for my WL in order to save for the gifting season. I feel a bit awkward talking about it, so I guess I'll list the few items that have been on my top priority list lately:

1. This item is so unique, and I love to play around with it when I'm doing HA based on my OCs, since there aren't many items that look like bruises around. But I have no idea who made this item, if it was public or anything like that :(

2. I love those piggies, and this one is my favourite, because it looks so cozy <3 Got it! Thank you so much <3

3. This one is such a adorable FG, I love how it goes with a lot of my HAs

Hello ! This is such a lovely topic, what a nice way to celebrate Luminaire spirit! I am one of those people who doesn't have much CSC around, buying it is a bit expensive in my rl currency and I still don't have enough sP to trade for a CW. I refrain from looking through CWs because otherwise I know my wishlist would be insanely big, but here are some of my wl items I couldn't resist:

1. I think this is my favourite wearable - the colours are wonderful, the art and the atmosphere is so dreamy... I think I could live in this frame!
2. Maybe my second place in the favourite list - this wig is MAGICAL, I've never seen anything like this. - Clouds are meaningful to me since I was young, and while some people feel attreacted by the moon or the stars I have this thing with clouds, their lightness and the storms. This FG is just the kind of cloud I'd like to live in. - Just the type of blush I'd like to have in rl too. This makeup item seem to fit with most of my outfits
3. Cinderella is my favourite Disney princess and the live-action motto 'have courage and be kind' is something I truly try to live by!
4. More cute wigs - I wish I could have hair like this in rl, pink and flowy. The black wig is very close to how I imagine the haircut of one of my OCs, one I've been writing since I was 16. I don't have hair like this in rl either, so dressing up in Subeta is a good substitute!

1. one of the first cws i ever added to my WL/wanted. i drew an oc of mine in this, i loved it so much. generally speaking i just love dramatic cloaks, but of all cws i think this is one of the best ones (apart from...)

2. what can i say? i'm a cloak ho. these cw cloaks leave me breathless. this has also been on my wl for eons, and one was one of the first cws i ever wanted.

3. my favourite scarf EVARRRR. i know it's not like a mouth-watering highly detailed coveted cw but for some reason... i just absolutely have always loved the shape and style of this. i think it says a lot about me that my top 3 cws arent wigs theyre just like... cloaks and scarves. exactly like RL.

and some honourable mentions: the musical aria tail is a private. i contacted the creator of the cw who was inactive on subeta, but i knew their tumblr, and they confirmed that it was a private with no public copies. i'm putting it here anyway because this is my fave item of all, all, all time, but i know it's impossible. the other two are more recently added favorites! this is the makeup i would buy if i had any CW... and the fluffy punky cardigan is THE BEST site sweater hands down. fight me. i wish i had this sweater in real life!!

ahhhhh restaurant life sucks out your souuuuuul! LOL. I swear, man.. Never having a weekend or a holiday off for basically all of my adult life.. It was dumb, man! I started my current job in October of last year and I work M-F 8-4 and one holiday a year (this year I had memorial day), and it's the weirdest, most surreal thing in the entire world-- a year into it, and I'm still insanely grateful for them taking a chance on me! You'll get there eventually, and then you and I can reminisce about those "Crazy old days" and wonder how on earth we ever survived it. (Seriously, if I have to pull a 12-hour day now I want melt into a puddle by the end of it-- that used to be my norm! HOW? :P)

Oh, man... someone who knows! 😆 It isn't even just the 12 hr days... it's the 12 hrs on your feet. It's... something else.

Grocery stores, likewise, rarely sleep. The hours won't be much better, that's for sure. But eventually...

The resumes I had in were all for jobs in student services, which is pretty far removed from my major... but every RA or TA gets a few years working with undergrads, right? Academic Advisors make less than half of what this company will pay me... but I was willing to do it for the comfy 9 to 5 with ALL holidays off and lots of vacations. But alas... the hiring process is slow as molasses, and after several months of hourly pay, I'm ready for a fat paycheck! I'm already putting in the hours... surely I can be more useful elsewhere. ;)

I suppose we shouldn't be complaining, since people out there are desperate for jobs. I've never much had to worry about it since, as you know... if you have restaurant experience, you can get a job in another restaurant within a day. But you know... they really do suck your soul out through your ears.

Is one I really want because almost a year ago I made an OC I really love using this wig and I would love to wear the outfit I made for him. It's one of the two items I have left to get. (The other also being a CW, but the hair is honestly more important, cause then I can make him just wearing other things.)

I honestly have approximately 0 knowledge on how the whole CW thing works, so I don't know if it is unobtainable or retired or what. Just that the two items I have left to get are not in shops.

This one is probably also a pipe dream since it's private, but who knows, maybe some kind soul seeing this knows the user and can get me a copy. I love Dragon Age and have three fanpets for the series. I would love to have this for my Herald of Andraste's TC, but also it's a really pretty background that I can pull out and use sometimes~

Another Dragon Age tribute item from the same user, but not private. So this is definitely the easiest to get, but absolutely dear to me since the Grey Wardens are my favorite from the series. This would be for my pet Commander of the Grey's TC, and of course I'd pull it out sometimes to wear.
