Hi guys, I just wanted to give you an update.

My ticket was assigned to a staff member and they said they are looking into what they can do, no word yet but I'm glad someone has been assigned :).

Meanwhile I've been doing research of my own. I dumped a common item into the DC and kept refreshing to see how long it would take to show up. It took ten minutes and then it started popping up, so I think it's safe to say that my CW was nabbed from the DC probably minutes after I donated it. So it's probably a hopeless cause and I doubt the person who grabbed it will see this thread :( or if they have it they probably are planning on keeping it.

I wanted to thank you for all your help, you are all incredibly kind and made me feel a lot better about my stupid mistake ❤.

As for what to do with the 2nd copy I say wl gift it to someone at random too! You can search wl for specific items and see the other users wanting it. I do this with vault items for lumi. Sometimes my random gift was the only gift a user got.

Is it worth asking staff if they could trace your anonymous gifter and arange for it to be returned to them? Or maybe save it for Lumi and gift it to a newbie maybe or someone with very few gifts under their tree. You could always pop it in the DC :D :D

That's also good idea, I don't know if I want to infringe on someone's privacy though. I won't give it away just yet, I'll wait a day and see if the gifter contacts me.
