I do not think putting another restriction on battlers is a good idea. I am one of the people that has a ton of intel and would NOT like to see option happen.
I am fine with the way things are now.
It doesn’t take much to read back up and see how many times, over a very long period we pinged you to this thread and didn’t get a single response to what was causing the issue or its possible solutions. You’ll forgive my more creative ways of trying to get staff to look at this topic at once.
A more restrictive option serves no one, I’m unsure why that is being considered a solution. Guess we wait. So what is the issue ?

Nothing to forgive. I'm not upset, I really did appreciate the reminder ping, and I tried to give a better reply this time since I did read back up and see how a followup was neglected. But this is still off topic so again, please head over to Site Feedback if you want to discuss the communication concern further. Happy to meet you there.
Option 1 was mentioned because it is a valid solution. It would prevent the glitch by preventing users from meeting the conditions that cause the glitch to appear.
This glitch is a side effect of how scroll data is stored, and the ideal solution is to change the way we do it to be more robust and efficient, so that it can store a lot more scrolls using less data and be way less restrictive. A limit will still need to be introduced but we'd be able to place it high enough to not be prohibitive (like 100)
We made the mistake of not having limits in a lot of Subeta's early code, but it turns out they are necessary because the code still does have inherent limits no matter what - you just run into them via things crashing (like this scrolls bug) if no limit is explicitly set.

hey, sorry for giving my two cents on this since I'm not that much of a battler, but... Why is over 50 scrolls necessary? Is it due to an impossible opponent that takes lots of single use scrolls or...?
I'm not Insane, but for pushing high score tables and event bosses like Hydragellos where you're either in a position of needing to survive as long as possible or win a long, tricky fight, having a ton of scrolls at your disposal can make a huge difference. Some people also invest a lot of resources in their pets' intelligence and the scrolls to make the best use of it, so they would like to enjoy the pay off of all that work. Otherwise, intelligence beyond the scrolls you can equip becomes a vanity stat.
oh, I see... I would never imagine someone could last longer than like... 20 or 30 rounds against world bosses.
As for the "just because" reason, I think that's even vainer than having high intel, because reading books can earn you a place at the most read books highscore table, having a set of 50+ scrolls "just because" seems like a relly unnecessary thing since that'll be a ton of scrolling if you're not just gonna use the top scrolls. Since we can have some premade sets, I believe it'd be better to just have a main set, a set for disabled stealing/healing/freezing, a set for every specificly hard opponent etc.
I'm just a worthless pleb, so I don't have a dog in this fight, but I don't think it's about vanity or a display of wealth, or even 'just because'. Intelligence has an actual function in game, and people build it up with the reasonable expectation that they can use it for challenging fights. We also only get five premade sets but can have something like 100 pets. So, I mean, you can argue with people about how they should best allocate their resources, but telling people it's 'just because' and that the only payoff is scrolling is just kind of.. rude?
But again, I am a garbage player with worthless pets, and these problems are not my problems.
I said it bc you mentioned and it seemed that way... I mean
Some people also invest a lot of resources in their pets' intelligence and the scrolls to make the best use of it, so they would like to enjoy the pay off of all that work. Otherwise, intelligence beyond the scrolls you can equip becomes a vanity stat.
That seems a bit of a "just because they can" thing for me. If you're not gonna need hald of the 60 scrolls you equip (assuming that the battle is lasting over 60 rounds plus all the scrolls are one use only), I don't see why there shouldn't be a limit to it.
If there's no logical reason for having limitless scroll slots, maybe what could be done is having 10 sets available instead of 5, and around a 40 (maybe 50?) scrolls cap.
Let's try to stay on-topic to the bug report, please. This isn't the place to discuss how different players choose to play the game!
[edit] I think the suggestions or feedback forums might be best if you want to discuss/suggest more significant changes to how scrolls work. This bug report is about how scrolls crash under certain conditions and this issue will be addressed either way <3

Oh. Makes sense. I’ll try not to complain about the 100 limit when that happens ;) Thanks for the help.

had you looked into the integer limit in the database that I mentioned previously? When that was the issue with sp on hand insane and I were the ones that discovered the glitch and from what grelca described at the time it was a 30 second fix of just upping the data limit on that column of the database from 32 to 64.
It was a very similar glitch to this one too. You would cross the 32bit integer limit 2.1billion whatever sp and your on hand sp would crash deleting it all.
