I'm the proud owner of WonderIand (that's an capital i there, not an l), so I know the feel. Newsprint used to be Homocide until I snagged a more fitting name for him.

it is really frustrating, but at the same time i think misspellings can be rly fun and unique! i've been impressed with how creative ppl can get to work around it. like for Cayne, honestly my first impression was you had snagged a cool alternate spelling of the name Cain, i didn't realize is was an actual misspelling until it was pointed out! haha

but yeah i completely understand the major frustration of having no choice but to go with the misspelling route... especially if you've been stalking the real spelling for years and you happen to be off by a millisecond when you finally have the chance to snatch it in clearing or something hahahahachokes back a sob

personally tho i don't use misspellings myself, but i'm open to "common" alternate spellings.. or at least a spelling that i know there's a decent amount of ppl out in the world who legit use as their name, if that makes sense lol? tbh i utilize a lot of baby name websites to make sure a certain name or spelling i'm eyeing isn't considered too "out there" haha

My intention was not to target, which was why I added that last little anecdote at the end of my original post. I tried to make it clear that I'm not trying to low-key beg for the names I want, because I don't pull that kind of crap. I apologize if it seemed like that's what I was doing, or trying to make the owners of those names feel awkward. My only thought creating this thread was to discuss what I've had to compromise for and see in turn what everyone else has done. I'm not even looking to change their names right now, or seeking alternate names for them. Whoops. But I can sort of see what you mean I suppose.

Oh no, I would never expect you to just give them up to me! Definitely not trying to give off that vibe. They're obviously a pair (as they should be!) and I love that. I'm very sorry if you felt awkward or targeted by this thread. I did not intend that at all. Also congrats on snagging Abel when it cleared! That's really awesome ^^ (P.s. I don't judge you for stalking the name for so long, because there used to be a long list of names I used to stalk until I took hiatus. :p)

I totally feel you on that. I mean, I guess I could have done that, but I'd feel exactly the same every time I looked at my pets. But you're right, eventually you kinda deal with it. Cayne was just a cool alternate spelling in the beginning, but then I extended his lore to kind of include his brother, so I guess it's fitting that I had to change the spelling of that as well.

That's awesome! I'm glad you got to fix her :) I think that's a really cool name, too! (p.s. Great overlay also)

Yes, I can definitely understand that as well. Cayne was my first spotlight win too, and since I've had him so long with his name spelled that way it doesn't really even bother me too much anymore.

Why thank you <3 I didn't mind when it was one or two, but now suddenly I'm at 3 and I had a mini spaz-attack I guess you could say. Or OCD attack, but hey I'm becoming more accustomed to them every day I see them. Honestly though all three of those names are pretty great anyway, (totally thought Elliott was supposed to have 2 t's anyway for some reason? Maybe I'm not the brightest). Good names in my opinion, either way ^^

8D You're welcome, and I'm so glad you looked up Ausar and managed to grab it! That's awesome ^^ Congratulations. And thank you so much for your kind words about Blooo. It has definitely grown on me a little more since I first made it. I have to agree with Sirius, also, Gabriela and Jakie are pretty great alternates or even first-choice worthy names.

That's not a bad compromise, with a capital i if it doesn't bug you too much. ^^ Newsprint is a really cool name though.

thank you! And yes, Cayne is just an alternate spelling, I suppose :p I guess mis-spelling was a bit strong for him. As I said above in this comment, he started out spelled that way with no connection with 'Cain' but then I extended his story to kind of bounce off the bible and use his brother Abel, too. That's really the only reason my first choice at this point would be to change it to Cain. But I do totally know what you mean, because I'm the same way usually, I'll use the Real Name version if it's different, but usually only if it's a common alternate spelling. I definitely used to frequent baby name websites when creating characters. No shame there lol And I feel the pain of missing a name clearing too. It's not a good feeling. :p But life goes on I suppose! xD

Don't have any misspellings, but I do have a two-word name, which I once never thought I'd have (although I have two now). Fable Jerome is named after my adorable parakeet Fable, who died seven years ago. At first I was kind of bummed to have a name like that, but now I really like it--it feels personal, like it's my own.

Aw, well that's totally understandable. ^^ Like I said I can agree with that. Most of the names that bothered me the most are now much more personal for me. Cayne specifically. (: Also, you have some really lovely names, just had to throw that in there ! :)
