Shug Monkey Which seems to have been a cryptid in the same vein as bigfoot that was seen in England for a time, but no sightings of it have been reported since the second world war. Glad my posts are amusing someone! I like learning and hoarding random information, so I'll totally own up to looking up random stuff on Wikipedia for fun and then posting the thing I was looking at. (For this thread in particular, there are so many fantastic mythical creatures across the world's cultures, and I find this fascinating, but sometimes their names make me feel like I need to qualify them and state that they're definitely real. I have at least one friend who would likely laugh and accuse me of making up the grootslang.)

Happened to be loitering around still (on and off) and saw your ping. I find your intellect refreshing which is why I look forward to your posts as it gives me another avenue of knowledge and much more entertaining than any Wikipedia text! I agree with the wide range of variety and variant of mythological creatures across the spectrum I've always been interested in this area of historical beliefs and legends some of the greatest (just in my opinion) are Asian creations/creatures that are still completely believed and respected up to present day. Guess this is why I flunked out of Psych and went on to study Cultural Anthropology 😊

Shōjō Which is an interesting spirit from Japanese folklore (which seems to have origins in Chinese lore). There's even a Noh play about them. Ahh, I'm so flattered you think that of me! I love Asian legendary creatures, especially those related to Shinto (and the connections between creatures from Japan to China to Korea and other Asian countries is also a point of fascination), and have a particular fondness for Norse mythology. Cultural anthropology, wow, what an interesting thing to study! All I can claim is that I was an arts major once upon a time that likely would have been better served to have followed my love for all things mathematical.
