The more I look at it, the more I'm not sure I like it. :|
I was wondering, what do you guys use to draw (tablets, etc) and what program? I'm used to drawing on papers, but what to try doing it digitally and not sure what to use. I do have a wacom drawing board but since I have trouble working with it (2D vision apparently), I was thinking of using my laptop touchscreen instead.

@ Celtangel I use Paint Tool Sai and a very basic Wacom tablet. I think it's just an Intuos or something like that - I only spent $120 on it. Speaking of that though, I need to go back to doing some more traditional art and experimenting with that. Maybe I'll do some HAs like that if people want to see it.
For transparency, I pop into Photoshop. I think there are some free versions out there at this point? I also heard that FireAlpaca is a decent program if you want both free and legal.
Thanks for the infos.
I've just downloaded FireAlpaca and Krita, which were free. Will see how they go.
As for the tablet, I thought I had a wacom, but it turns out that I have an Adesso Cybertablet. However, what I would really need is like the cintiq or mobilestudio, but holy smoke are those expensive. Reason I'll try to use my touchscreen laptop and see if it works.

Yeah, get a proper pen for that and let me know how it goes! I know has a touchscreen but I don't think he ever tried to draw on it.
I also wouldn't touch those tablets if you're just starting out. It's better to get a feel for how things are done digitally with a cheap tablet (or your laptop screen if that works) before spending thousands on a tablet. It's about practice and not how much money you've spent on your equipment. I used to think that my art would be the same as it was with just a pen and pencil if I just got a tablet, but that hasn't been the case.
I used to draw on my adesso, but for the past 6 years, I can't use it anymore. My brain doesn't process anymore the hand drawing gesture if it doesn't "see" what it's drawing.

it seems to be pretty dead here XD i am ready for morostide ^w^

I CHANGED THE FORUM IMAGE.
OLD --------------------------------------------------------------> NEW
Some of the details (or lack therefore because I was in a rush) bothered me, so I worked on it a bit today. inspired this by the way.
love the update!
(isn't there a ceremonial ritual welcome we're supposed to do for revamps? throw a or something...)
Since the ice cream got revamped, I'm not sure what the ritual is anymore.
But thanks!
omg how did i miss this!! it looks awesome!
also idk if this should be here or anywhere else XD but short question for the strain drawing should we just draw the strain as it is or make a HA contest and who wins for each strain get's to be drawen as the forum image?
A contest and a prize! That's a really good idea, but we'd need to lay out some judging rules: there's only got about a quarter-Avel of size to work with (maybe a third?), and the strain needs to be obvious from the logo, so maybe a half-body/bust size? That's enough space to get some outfit customization (head and shirt) but still be clear enough shrunk down to a thumbnail?
(Also, like cooking shows, your special ingredient has to be tasteable! ... but I don't know if we need to specify "Your outfit can't obscure your infection"; that's prob. obvs. right?)
yea i was thinking of half-body/bust size too "Your outfit can't obscure your infection" might not be too obvious since i wouldn't allow a wig/hair for brainrott that covers the brain maybe we'll just have specific rules for each strain like brainrott - no wig/hair for brainrott that covers the brain part bubblejelly - no witeout or old backdrop that covers the mushrooms on the side of the skin Death Worms - Don't bnscure the mouth ect.
: We could cover all of them with just a piece of advice, like "Since we're looking for a model for the Strain, make sure you proudly show off your infection!" I might not might if it overlaps a little bit, as long as the most recognizable features are there.
In the end, it needn't be a field guide. Each group can contain its own progression images (and anything else you guys think of).
"Since we're looking for a model for the Strain, make sure you proudly show off your infection!" yea i think that'll work
Ey too I just wanted to say again the image update is spot on. The thicker linework shows up really well at reduced size, even all the way down to the thumbnail size (like on the Your Groups tab, right?)
I was a little eh? on the darker lines at first, and was completely focused on the shadework, but now I get it. 👍
I've been using a lot of thicker lines lately, along with doing things in less strokes (I was essentially sketching with lineart which while easier, doesn't look as good). It's been less frustrating too, which is always a good thing! I am happier that the detail finally show up though - I think that was one of the things that was bothering me when I decided to work on it more.
And that shading should be better, considering that it was practically non-existent in the first one.
We also need to decide how we're splitting the strains.
there are 41 in total so it won't be an even split
maybe we each pick one we would like to draw and have a HA contest with them? and so on untill we have all? there will be 1 left at the end but we could do a colab piece, one of us could do the lineart and the other one the coloring?
