It's not like you need prior permission to use a given item, especially when it comes to the ones that practically everyone seems to have. Your resultant looks are different enough that I wouldn't worry about it, especially since subeta doesn't have a whole lot of other split skirt items anyway

You were too late unfortunately, but WOW!! I really love what you did with that neon color. The makeup on the black skin looks amazing and so is the dark background behind the green clothing. Really creative!

That layering is gorgeous! I love what you did with the cloak, I was wondering what top you were using and admiring how beautifully it worked with the lace skirt, but just!!! SO AMAZING! In the beginning it's hard to find items you like, so you have to check the whole wardrobe a lot. But once you start to build up your wardrobe, you develop favorite items and combinations you like and the searching gets easier. A contest like ours is also a great way to try out new items and styles ^^ It makes you develop a style you like or try something completely different which you might not have thought of. Our contest is also available to everyone and the items are either cheap or easily obtainable when there is a site event. And even if you don't have something, we also have a Borrowing and Lending group (link here) where you can ask for items if you want to wear something you don't have! And no worries if you use similar items as another entry. Since we all wear one item that is the same anyway and some just look good in combination, there are bound to be some similarities between entries. Just don't copy a style completely because it's all about having fun and winners are chosen via random generator anyway, so there is no bias. Everyone can win and we all have fun doing something together ^^ If you have any questions, don't be shy to ping either me, Thomas, or Chocolate, that's what we are here for.
