I'm really sick of people shooting each other.

Thank you anon ;_; x10 March 4/21/21 (RIP Storm-buddy the leopard gecko- you lived a great 16.5 years.)
I am also sick and tired of these shootings. But what really irritates me is NOTHING IS EVER LEARNED and it happens again and again. The reason these shootings happen is because schools are soft targets and it's time for that to change.

Is America going for a How many mass shootings can we have in a year record. Isn't it like 30 already this year alone.
Americas gun laws need to change. If it doesnt then this will keep happening. I find it sick that there are More places to buy a gun than there is to by a Big Mac & a Grande Mocha. & dont forget that potential $2500 fine if caught smuggling Kinder surprise eggs into America.
Americas laws are stoopid.

I’ve given up on politicians listening to the people instead of the gun lobby after nothing was done after Sandy Hook Elementary. The NRA cares about money and votes and shows zero empathy. Both sides of the political aisle support universal background checks on gun ownership, but Congress is so weak to actually listen to its constituencies. It also doesn’t help that gun checks for people with mental illnesses were revoked about a year ago by the current administration...

How about solving the problem instead of just having the same old arguments every time this happens?

I understand that this is a charged topic, but would like to pop in and remind everyone to please avoid turning this into a debate. Thanks!
That's my old high school. I graduated college two years ago, for reference.
It's almost surreal how scary this is, especially given how secure the school is and what a good town Parkland is. But Florida doesn't care about gun control and so over a dozen kids were murdered.
I can't imagine how I would have processed this if this had happened when I was a student. When a couple of kids died in a car accident one year, the entire school was mourning. I have no idea how everyone will cope with this.
Very scary and so sad. Did you know the teachers? My heart breaks over this. About shootings everywhere. I was born in Miami. If I had stayed there, my kids may have gone to that school!
I agree.
The two coach staff members are familiar in that I remember them being there when I was a student, but I wasn't into sports much so I didn't know them personally
oh shit the school that had the big shooting one of their resource officers was forced to resign and two others on restrictive duty after it was proven they failed to do their job o.O

My mother told me about the resigning. Why did these guys fail? Were they too afraid to shoot because they thought they might harm a student or teacher?
[tot=PiplupMagby34]
They failed because they were the armed resources that should have been able to stop it, and instead the surveillance video shows that they stayed outside for the duration of the actual shooting. They didn't even try to go in to protect anyone-- they stayed outside to save themselves.
i dont even know, the guy that resigned didnt even bother to enter the building when the shooting started.

I think the whole 'school shooting' issue is more about people than it is about guns or gun laws...obviously these are kids that need help are not getting it. So maybe, us, as a society, should be taking a closer look at our children and ask ourselves why this is really going on. How did these kids get access to these firearms, why is this idea even a glimmer in their mind right now when they should be worried about zits and home work?
Don't get me wrong, I am very aware that gun laws are very laxed and there should be certain restrictions put and kept in place, but I believe it all really goes deeper than that.

i definitely agree, i think the most basic way to put it in terms of gun regulations though, is that if he had a knife or any other weapon but a gun a LOT less people would have died or been hurt. but access to guns isn't the bottom line for sure. makes me think about how he had been reported so many times and admitted homicidal thoughts, and nobody did anything, but i've had one too many times i said the wrong thing at the wrong time about suicide and ended up behind locked doors with no way to get out
It's a stigma and a double standard. Unfortunately the system does not work and that is a sad fact. This kid should have immediately been in therapy, his guardians should have paid more attention and been there more. Been more vigilant. The school should have been more involved, the resource officers should have actually done their jobs and protected those kids instead of saving their own skins.
The system failed, people failed, we failed. IF you wanna look at from a cut and dry point of view.
Don't blame a gun for a people issue...
and I am sorry for that happening to you, I do hope you got some sort of help for your trouble though :/ I suffer from severe depression myself, been there bought the t-shirt.
"...I've been through it all baby, I'm mother courage."
yes. the system failed and we failed..it's sickening that the guards didn't protect the children.
i'm sorry you deal with similar issues :/ it's very overwhelming. it does make me so angry how many times i've been locked up but people who are an actual danger get looked over, especially when it's brushed off as "typical male aggression"
Typical male aggression??? That's such a cop out. -.- I can't believe they actually tried to say that. Just goes to show where we are going.
Children are killing each other all the time now, its time to realize we fucked up.
It is overwhelming, but I find ways to cope with it. :3
Subeta helps lmao
