I would REALLY love to see a shengui guo Pet!!!! As a matter of fact, I am an artist, not too bad one, and I would love to draw a few examples for what I would love to see for this type of pet, as well as exactly what you would expect from this type of pet ^^

I really like the idea of the symbol on their forehead idea!!!! a glowing symbol that represents the pet type, completely made up symbols of course, and I don't think you need a whole alphabet to do so.

I'm not exactly like subeta art, working on that, but I'll do my best!!!

I actually came here to write my own suggestion of basically the same idea, with the addition of maybe some chinese/japanese traditional Luck items and or some festival items, so they could basically be really festive for a traditional summer festival, or winter, depends on subeta artists' preference. They have different festivals year round ^^

ALSO!!! May I suggest celebrating the year of the (inset pet type here) and each year we celebrate a different pet, with items released at new years That would coinside with that pet's year. This way we could ditch the new years thing and have a celebration on new years eve for the pets instead of a real world event!♥♥
