Kat smiled at Minx and then back to Frieda, “She speaks to me in her own way, even if she doesn’t use our words I can understand how she is feeling or what she may want. That is pretty neat that you are working on negotiations with a community. I bet she might like to meet them.” As Kat spoke Minx nodded her head up and down as if understanding.

Thank you for the insight into Sorn's personality

*Sorn feels eyes upon him, not a hostile gaze but very curious as you work the ball of lightning. Its the one who took the prattler to task. He rose and made his way over, moving with the easy grace of a weapons master. He is dark-skinned like the men of Tethyr, slender and small...not an elf but small for a human, you think. Was he going to confront for trying to scare off his teammate? Possibly, but hard to tell. his face and body language gave nothing away of his intent. He stops some 3 feet away and inclines his head, saying something in a gutteral language you do not recognize. His next attempt sounds less like a disemboweling, but is no less recognizable to you. Again you shake your head.

"How embarrassing" he murmurs in common

You incline your head to show you understand

"You speak L' Anglais? Excellent! I am Lion. I wanted to thank you for merely trying to frighten young Ebele away, Monsieur, a nice girl but young and not familiar with the nuances of socialization outside of her own culture. He starts spinning the thin short staff in his hand, ""Do you play?"

"Anglais? What language is this? You are speaking Common, though some of your words are strange as is your accent. Are you from the South? Play?"

"South, oui! My family is from Bordeux! Billiards, my dear boy! The King of table games...perhaps some evening we can get acquainted over a game. Until then, I wish you a pleasant evening," he says extending his hand

(It was a good moment to brood for him--though, I'd rather react for Sorn myself and reply. No offense. Your other replies weren't in second person. He would not know enough to figure its South of anywhere. He's done raids and all the drow stuff but listening to peoples geographic speech, not of interest to him. His sentence structures and feelings are not easy for anyone to anticipate, even me. Heck last WS, I thought he was gonna fight Jean rather than cry haha.)

Sorn was ready for whatever this person wanted. He had no idea what the man was on about either.

"Trying to frighten her?" the drow asked rhetorically with a raised eyebrow. "I assure you if I merely wished to frighten the young one, I would succeed. I do not know where this place you say is," he said with a shrug. "Billiards?" That word had no meaning to him, nor did he know what table game the man was referring too. He looked at the hand unsure of what he was supposed to do with it. "Perhaps we can, though your words are like a puzzle to me. I am called Sorn. I highly doubt there are much pleasantries here...though I am sure I shall create some if need be."

My apologies! It was incredibly presumptuous of me. How long has Sorn been away from the Underdark? LOL no I get what you're saying, the Underdark is HUGE, he'd be familiar with where other house compounds were, where the dark dwarves and gnomes hung out and maybe the closest human/elven settlements were for raiding

I've played Drow but that was decades ago and it is not like riding a bike

Sorn

Name:Sorn

Description: 6ft tall, red eyes, onyx skin, mostly slender with light muscles. Pointy elf ears. White hair. He has white runes on his body that help to hold his spirit within his body. Almost always wears headdresses of some kind.

Age: 400 years old

Companion: Zhah, a purple male sprite. He can now change into a bunny though Sorn has yet to explain exactly how this happened. Zhah loves Sorn with all his little heart. He mostly speaks in small sentences when he speaks.

Background: The moment he was born he was given his runes--burnt onto his skin. Within the womb spirits followed. He can talk to them and when he does so, his eyes become white and he becomes translucent. In fact, half of his name is only known to a few living souls, to create even more power. He is the most powerful male his matriarchal society has ever seen. Because of this he was trained as a High Priest.

He mostly does elemental magic--yet he is also fond of creating a rain of swords. As with all drows, he was trained in weapons as well. He has a double bladed spear/staff that magically folds into a dagger. Its name is Mirror. He also does wield a real dagger that has serrated edges and magically returns. Anything with a blade is preferred when he chooses to use weapons.

Sorn’s sister was born blue—which to the drow believe she was tainted with light elves. Instead of murdering her at birth, their mother spared her—in hopes that she was as powerful as Sorn was. Sorn looked over his sister, and though he did not know it, he loved her deeply. Love has no place within the drows—nor does trust. Love is weakness. After 50 years of careful planning and calculations to get her freedom, Sorn miscalculated and his mother realised he loved the girl. As punishment, he was sentenced to death. His brothers took him above ground to kill him, but he used the spirits to help him escape. He spent the next two hundred years hiding as a woman, biding his time in another drow society. He listened and waited and one day heard his sister was alive. He went to her side—esposing himself as a male and earning himself another banishment--his spider goddess now wants him dead. Sorn is trying to understand the surface world. He is trying to find his place and how he fits in.

Personality: In a nutshell, Sorn is an arrogant jerk. He's a lech and is known for not having a gender preference at all. Though he had a girlfriend. A drow from another realm named Kara and is largely good. Sorn's smart and calculating; has a great deal of patience when dealing with royalty or other such cunning people. He has charisma and can manipulate people towards his own desires and goals. He has a large ego and personality to match. His magic is the strongest when he is angry or happy. Sorn likes provoking people. As most of his race, he enjoys torturing those he feels deserve it. He has little understanding of things like love and trust. He wants to find a role for himself but does not know how or what and his desperation to fit it makes him grumpy and short tempered. With his girlfriend gone and his sister in married bliss, Sorn is bitter and also lonely.

He's been on the surface about a year and half now. He hung with his sister but she's in married bliss (kind retired her right now since the same person who rp'ed Raven's husband is the same one who played Sorn's GF AND his other friend Ceric. Since they aren't accessible I kind of am at a crossroads.) Drows are so much fun to play aren't they? Sorn is a chaotic neutral character. He really is mostly in it for himself.

Frieda sat back down, there was not much a little weasel-girl could do in this situation. Drow-folk were something she was not acquainted with in any way. She didn't want to act impulsively and get hurt, or hurt somebody else. She would wait for Msr Delacroix's signal if he needed help.

Frieda returned her attention to Minx, she was well acquainted with the speech patterns of the other creatures and smiled at Kat before she spoke to Minx again. "Well Minx, in my world, visitors from other tribes and clans are always welcome to visit or to stay. It is a wild place though, there is much to hunt and to catch, though we do have a social order of those who we do not chase and eat." She placed her paws in her lap and kicked her legs. "Chipmunks, squirrels and um....weasels....are friends, not prey."

She kept up a stream of friendly chit-chat with Kat and included Minx in the conversation. Frieda was still concerned about Ebele and only began to relax when Lion returned with the child and plopped her down in a seat between himself and Frieda. Frieda greeted the youngster, "So glad you could join us, can I order you a soda or some tea? I know they do not serve young adults such as yourself any wine or spirits."

Frieda's alignment is holy (lawful) good. But she has a bit of Badass Adorable in the mix too.

Sorry this took so long! We've decided to call ourselves the Sql Girls due to being a comics fan. Squirrel Girl is one of the few superheroines to actually defeat not only Doctor Doom, Wolverine, and Thanos, but has also saved Earth by befriending Galactus. So yes, she's pretty awesome.

I made her pick that name because her other ideas were: Dynamic Duo (eh.), Scream Team (what?), Scary Fairies (..um..), ScourPuffs (this is the last time I let you choose team names while doing dishes), and Petunia Pals (no. Just no.)

:)

Ohhh...with such Un-Drowlike sentiments as trust and love, I'm surprised that Sorn's House didn't lose Llolth's favor (laugh's, I love Drow society and how it's set up, there are laws against destroying a house, but the Queen of Spider's makes sure that every lesser house knows when a higher status house loses favor and knows to make sure that no Noble of that house can survive to accuse another House of making the attack)

Before she realized what was happening, Ebele had been whirled away by her worried teammates She kept glancing over her shoulder at the tall dark man. If he's not an elf then what is he? Ebele had never heard of or seen a Drow, the word he used to describe himself. She was shoved further away from Sorn as her teammates worries filled her ears. They were not asking if she were alright just telling her that that man was dangerous.

She looked around their shoulders at the dark skinned Drow. She didn't see what they saw. Ebele looked at him through the eyes of a child who'd slept on feces and soil strewn floors her entire life. She saw him through her eyes, ones that had seen suffering and pain long before she even recognized what they were. She had never felt like she'd suffered or was in pain, even now that she'd been living in a clean boarding school and had her own bed with a real mattress; now she just felt soft. She thought of what the Drow had said about pouring lava inside a victim. Lava was playable and soft too until it was tempered with cold.

She pretended to listen to the adults who were trying to shelter her but all she could do was think about the man Sorn. She closed her eyes and felt for his presence, all she could feel was the electric sensation of the lightning balls that he was throwing off the side of the ship. Her skin danced with the tingling of his magic, she could feel it very acutely. Perhaps that was why she was drawn to him. Her eyes flashed open as the words of her deceased grandmother fluttered through her mind. "You have the power to be like me and your grandmother before me, Ebele. I can see it in your golden eyes..." Ebele had never really thought about what that meant until now. Maybe her grandmother had meant more than simple prowess of a female in the Nigerian marketplace or home. Maybe she had meant real power.

Ebele stared through Lion's eyes out the back of his skull and up towards Sorn. She used her mind to see the drow much deeper than the surface flesh and saw a spark of his wonder that made up a portion of who he was. That spark was all she could sense and it told her nothing yet at the same time it spoke to her soul. She did have something inside her, something her grandmother had seen.

Standing up abruptly sent the stool Ebele sat on clamoring to the ground behind her. She felt like she was floating as she walked in a daze up toward Sorn. While Frieda made frantic sounding noises of objection, Lion grabbed at Ebele to try to stop her. Ebele couldn't have stopped her even if she'd wanted to, which she didn't.

"How are you doing that?" She asked the Drow bluntly while motioning with her slim fingers towards the electricity hovering in the air.

Sorn could feel the shifting of the air, hear the soft footfalls of a young one approaching. When she asked the question, he chuckled. "How am I creating the lightning? I am a..." he paused thinking of the best word, "sorcerer. From the moment I was conceived, I had great power within me. Far greater than even many of the females in my society. Spirits followed my mother as I grew in her womb. At my birth, the High Priestesses were forced to put these rune upon my body. They keep my spirit tethered to my body and allow me to contact spirits and force them to do my will. All drow can wield magic, but not all possess the abilities for great magic use. I can do far greater thing than call lightning. I can summon all forms of elements and force them to do what I wish. I can do things that are not elemental as well, but elements are my favourite to manipulate. I had to train to control my magic, bend it."

The young girls widened as she listened to Sorn talk of spirits. All of the magic she knew of ancient Nigerian religions told her that using the spirits of the dead to accomplish your goals was frowned upon and seen as very dark magic. Her grandmother had spoken with people she could not see though, so she wondered what it all could mean.

Without thinking Ebele reached out and gently touched one of the runs on Sorn's exposed flesh. "Do they hurt when you use magic or when you contact spirits?" Her face screwed up in worry as she thought of the spirits. "Are you a practitioner of dark magic then?" She asked in a soft whisper, not knowing if the others would be amenable to his presence if they knew.

The curiosity and questions bubbled up inside her but she just watched him and wondered. She only spoke one more question, again without much in the way of forethought. "Can you tell if I have it too?" Her eyes had a far away look in them and realizing the vague quality of her question she flustered and blushed deeply, "I mean the magic ability." Casting a sideways look she mumbled softly about her grandmother being a witch and able to do much with spirits, hoping nobody else would hear and then reject her.

The touch didn't bother him. He saw no threat in the child. "No, though sometimes they get exceedingly warm." When she asked about dark magic he nodded. "I used to be a High Priest to my goddess. I would preform sacrifices and deep rituals that appeased her. I know the darkest of dark magic." He let the lightning go and looked at her. "Yes, I can and yes you do. I can feel it, but you are young and not experienced in using it. How old are you? 20?"

The details that Sorn gave regarding his work with dark magic were vague and emotionless, as if he were just recounting a recent rainstorm. Ebele looked at the lightning he was controlling and bit her lip as she thought about what he'd said.

After he let the lightning go, Sorn confirmed what she'd been feeling was real, she did have magic in her. Ebele's face split into a wide mouth grin as she reeled in pleasure and shock. Though as suddenly as the surprised excitement came it fled, as dread filled up her entire being. She looked around at the others on the deck and then again back over her shoulder before returning her stare up into the tall Drow's eyes. "Do you think the others can tell?" Ebele's whisper was so soft that the tone of fear in her voice hadn't come through and if it weren't for the waver in her final word she'd have almost pulled off sounding and looking calm, or so she thought.

The bubbly girl who'd been present only moments ago seemed to vanish as quickly as a snowflake on a warm window pane. "Can you read minds?" She quickly asked

Her grandmother had been ostracized by many in her community. Her great grandmother had received death threats and eventually been lead into a life of exile until she was killed by an angry mob convinced that she'd been calling down plagues of diseases among them all. Ebele did not want this to happen to her. She also did not want to accidentally cause something terrible to happen. She wanted to control this magic like Sorn did. She opened her hands palms facing upwards and looked down at them for a moment and thought about what she now knew she possessed.

The glimmer of gold in her eye caught the sunlight as she glanced back upward and bore her eyes deeply into Sorn's. "Will you show me how to control it?" She set her jaw and looked as resolute as she knew how, trying to show him she would not back down or give up trying to learn even if he said no. Surely there were others here who could help her if he refused.

"By the way I am 15, not a mere child but full of energy and willingness to learn everything." She watched the dark skinned man and waited for him to consider her proposition.
