@Cresenta I'm a Capricorn like you. :D Also, I am not sure if you are into birthstones, but garnets actually come in a rainbow of colors, not just red. ;) Rhodolite garnets (my favorite!) are purple/pink, tsavorite garnets are a brilliant green, spessartite garnets come in orange, and a number of different types also come in yellow, brown, blue (the rarest!), and color changing varieties. There are actually at least 20 types of garnet. So, chances are if you want a piece of jewelry with your birthstone, you can get one in your favorite color. ;) Sorry for the rambling, I just thought you might like to know that we really do have a super cool birthstone! I did a lot of gem research when I started making my own jewelry. :D

YAYYYYYYYY another Capricorn! :D high five Aww no, no need to say sorry! I've always been fascinated by gemstones and their significance and that info was interesting! I own a lot of garnets in various colors though the classic blood red is my fav just because I like the color. It's so rich and purdy. <3 You make jewelry?! That's so cool! :D

Yay! :D high fives Oh neat, you already knew they came in more colors, then. =) Until a few years ago I thought they only came in the rich red color. The red color is lovely, but I was excited to collect other colors for my jewelry, too! Yes, I do lost wax casting and some stone setting. Below is an example of a pendant I made with a rhodolite garnet heart. :D I have a color changing garnet that I still have to make a setting for. It changes from blue-green to purple depending on the light source.

That's so cool! The color-changing one esp sounds SO pretty and that owl pendant is gorgeous! _ I have a pendant I got for my birthday a few years back that is a dragon with a garnet setting. I'll have to take a pic and show you! <3

@Cresenta Thanks! :D I am still deciding what to do with the color-changing one, I wanted it to be a special setting since the stone is pretty unusual. Oh neat, I'd love to see it! Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your birthday thread talking about gemstones. xD It's just one of those subjects I enjoy talking about, especially when I find someone else who is interested in them as well. ;)
