I wasn't around this time last year, was this specific to last year when the giftboxes were new? Or is the current item pool also limited, and will it be increased over the next few days. :o
I have 42 giftboxes saved up atm, haven't opened any yet- I'm not sure if I should wait to open them (if the item pool for the giftboxes are going to expand), or if it's alright to open them now. :o
Honestly Idk. It seems its all items from the site. I have yet to get a single box... When I do i hope its a weapon Lol In any case earlier someone pulled a cs backdrop item today
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
last year it was seriously random. It was kinda like the Free Shop in that there was a set of already-determined items that it picked from so there'd be rashes of this or that item. But when this group of items gets used up more gets added in to it.
Most items are of high rarity and some can be retired/battle loot/cw
I saved up most of my giftboxes last year and it wasn't really worth it. This year I plan to open them every other day or so.

Out of the last 4 I opened I got 2 Cash Shop items.
It really is utterly random though.
The Giftboxes grab from the Free Shop pool. So you have a chance at getting basically anything we put in the free shop (cash shop items, game rarity items, basic items, melody, etc). :)
