My favorite holiday food is mashed potatoes but, honestly, I make that all year round too so it doesn't seem that special.
Sweet potato casserole at Thanksgiving. And really anytime. Peppermint hot cocoa. Stuffing. Potato salad.
Your mom's white borscht absolutely counts as a favourite holiday food.
Mine include my mom's chocolate-covered peanut butter balls, ham, turkey, etc. Some years I love eggnog and shortbread, but it depends on the year. My desire for eggnog peaked early this year, I think hah.

~Anything with gravy on it, lol
I love gingerbread! Or any kind of spice cake! Pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce? Oh and we have a breakfast casserole once a year on Christmas morning that I always look forward to! :9
I like coffee with a dash of Baileys in.
Buttered brazils, here in England theyre 'sweets' a whole brazil nut and its covered in a hard brittle toffee, theyre a bit expensive so I only get them at Christmas, but not this year Im doing well cutting sugar out and dont want to spoilt it.
Asparagus.
for any holiday get-together, roasts - roast beef, roasted potatoes, roasted carrots, roast all the things. i especially love hasselback potatoes, but i love eating them much more than i like making them so i... don't have them often lol. home fries are easier, and still tasty.
as for desserts... for thanksgiving, pumpkin pie! for christmas, pastries! last year i did scones since it was just us, this year i'm trying a babka muffin recipe for the first time period (my third ever time using yeast, oh boy) and gingerbread cookies for the first time in a long, long while. we're doing a christmas lunch, so hopefully they turn out well, but if not... there's chocolate chip cookie dough in the freezer, and my aunt is bringing dessert too lmao
Chocolate pie with meringue on top. My mom only makes it for the Christmas season so I look forward to it all year.
Gingerbread and hot chocolate with peppermint. Eggnog is great too.
I just finished chocolate truffles, dipped in mint.
my favorite holiday food is mash potato and green bean casserole with crescent rolls
Peppermint bark Sugar cookies Popcorn tins :)

Yorkshire puddings! With dripping hot gravy and baked potatoes, carrots and parsnips on the side. I'm not a fan of turkey but these dishes are always mouth-watering to me even though they are not exclusively festive!
Oh, and I absolutely love Christmas pudding too, especially when we're supposed to put some flame on the wine drenched pudding. The aroma that comes off it is lovely.
My favorite dinners:
Lasagna. Chicken and dumplings. Tuna casserole.
Carne Adovada, Red Chile and Pork Tamales, Posole, and Green Chile Stew

my favorite holiday food is LEFSE!!! it's a Scandinavian potato crepe/tortilla-like thing that is delicious with butter and jam or sugar and cinnamon. I like to eat it as a dessert, but my mom eats it like a bread/wrap substitute and makes sandwiches out of it. so. good!
Snickerdoodles! Hot cocoa. Fruit crumbles. Oatmeal.
I made some new cookies this year, that i think are a new favourite of mine. white chocolate chip cookies with bits of toffee in them. I used Hershey's Chipits Skor toffee bits. Use any simple chocolate chip recipe, personally, I use the purity cookbook recipe for chocolate chip cookies, (which you can find here online); and instead of one cup of regular chocolate chips, half that...for half a cup of white chocolate chips, and half a cup of the toffee bits.
