A book I've been reading is called "Zoobiquity" The Astonishing Connection Between Human and Animal Health. It explores animal and human commonality in a pretty interesting way :)

This was a really cool idea, thank you <3

What a nice thing you're doing!!

Honestly, you can skip me for the gifting portion, but I'd still like to take the time to recommend - I will always do this - Dark Tower, by Stephen King. Give it a chance! It's so good after book one! lol I'm finishing up American Gods, by Neil Gaiman right now. Before that I read the Road, but I don't recall the author. Uhh. I'm always a fan of the Anita Blake series, by Laurell K Hamilton (Actually, it's been a few months since her last release, I bet there's a new one out lol)

I'll tell you about them, if you want~~~

I also want to ping a few friends here (Mostly I just want to want to see new recommendations. I need stuff to read.)

Thank you for doing this. I hope you have a great Holiday Season and a Happy Luminaire!

If you're looking for a great and delightfully funny book about almost the apocalypse you should try "Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett Or if you'd like a classic short-horror novella you should try "The Willows" by Algernon Blackwood. You can get it for free (and legal) HERE And if you like weird fiction or cosmic horror HP Lovecraft is basically the granddaddy of it all, you can get his complete works for free (and legal) HERE or if you're like me and intend to read a lot of stuff but never quite get around to it but are curious about Lovecraft THIS podcast/website has some really nicely produced audiobooks readings - My top recommendations there would be "The Hound" or "The Picture in the House" [small]- a word from the wise, if you like cats do NOT listen to/read The Cats of Ulthar though[/small]

I tend to wear black and/or white here so something in one or both of those colors would probably be best unless you have something in the color CAT lol

My favorite book series is Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan. All the books in the related series are easy reads but really captured my interest. They are great if you are interested in mythology (and are so much better than the movies).

My favorite colors are pink and purple.

Thank you!

Thank you for hosting this giveaway! I've also been looking for things to read over the holidays, so I'm gonna keep lurking the thread....

I second your recommendation of Percy Jackson! Those books were my childhood and I still adore them.

I'd recommend Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan! Lots of fun, a light and quick read about a girl named Rachel whose boyfriend comes from a super rich family in Singapore -- a fact she doesn't find out until she's actually in Singapore -- and then it's a shit storm from there. The characters are super fun to read about aaaand it'll be a movie soon.

My two colours are sea foam green and white!

Thanks for the ping, I LOVE recommending books!

Like my friend Squid said, you don't HAVE to gift me unless you really want to. But I love recommending good reads, so I'll post anyway ;) I always recommend anything from either of Laurell K Hamilton's series. She has two, Meredith Gentry and Anita Blake. I also always recommend Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. The last series I will recommend is one that was recommended to me and I'm just in LOVE with. The Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. If you need ANY book to start with (they're not all in chronological order, so you could start anywhere and be fine. Like I did. xD) start with Acheron. THEN read Styxx. You HAVE to read those two books in THAT ORDER. They play off each other ALOT so its a good place to start. Then you can read any of the others. Or you could go in publishing order, whatever works best for you. Enjoy your new reads if you haven't read these before. <3

EDIT (cuz she's a derp today and didn't read the entire whole first post cuz she got excited cuz BOOKS! Lol) My favorite color is purple, but black/red are close ties for second.

OH BOY TALKING ABOUT BOOKS?!?!?! THIS IS MY JAM I like black and I like mint, but tbh if I don't make it into the 200 count I'm still out winning because BOOKS My personal favorite is John Dies at the End by David Wong, but that's a pretty aquired taste...it's what I describe as "violence, existentialism and dick jokes". It's rude and inappropriate and sometimes gross and always a bit horrifying, but I really really enjoy it. I also love Madness of Angels by Kate Griffin. If you're at all into urban fantasy this is a FANTASTIC take on it. She does Urban Fantasy better than anyone else, imo, bc fantasy doesn't just live alongside the rest of the world, it is part of the world, from dragons made of street pavement that breathe car exhaust, a subway card is a contract for protection whenever in the subway tunnels, graffiti'd eyes that let the artist watch the world from their art, it's all so, so great. It was a surprising favorite. If you have any young ones in your life, Moonsnacks and Assorted Nuts by Mary Grace Dembeck is the way to go, (I've had it since elementary school and I recited the first poem to my friend with no struggle to remember, and I'm a senior in college now.) and if you have a short attention span (or ADD like my mom), Sender Unknown by Sallie Lowenstein is great fun as well! FEEL FREE TO SMAIL ME IF YOU EVER WANT TO TALK BOOKS I LOVE BOOKS

(also I 3rd the above comments on Percy Jackson - I've only just started reading them but WOW they're fun!!!)

I really like The Warrior Cats Saga by Erin Hunter. There are a lot of books to read from. :) The 'first' season consists of 6 books. It is about Sammy later renamed Firepaw and he goes to live with the Thunderclan and learns to live in the wilderness (he was a house cat before)

Thanks for the Ping. <3

Books!!!! My very favorite thing in the whole world! Honestly no need for gifts - I am delighted to talk books anytime.

I love to read and am always looking for more books. Now I mostly read mystery series. I like to read about the same characters and see how they (and the writing) change as the series goes on. You can read mysteries that have themes about almost anything - dog mysteries, cat mysteries, cooking mysteries, quilting mysteries, scrapbooking mysteries, historical mysteries, ... My favorite series is one of the old classics - Nero Wolfe books by Rex Stout.

If you prefer fantasy/science fiction - my all time favorite is The Lord of the Rings, which I like even better than the Harry Potter books (also wonderful).

You can combine both in Isaac Asimov's robot mysteries (yes, he wrote mysteries including a wonderful short story series about The Black Widowers where the waiter always solves the puzzle). His robot mysteries feature a human detective and his robot partner - the first is titled The Caves of Steel.

I could probably go on forever, so I'll stop here. Please feel free to comment me anytime you'd like to talk books or get other recommendations.

Wishing you a very happy holiday season.

- thanks for the ping. Yay - books!!!

- I've been trying to find the first book in the Anita Blake series (Guilty Pleasures) as a book rather than the graphic novel that Marvel came out with later. Do you have any suggestions as to where to find it (I've tried interlibrary loan several times - even with help requesting the correct earlier actual book, the graphic novel keeps arriving)?

I'm not big on reading and I don't have any favourite books, but I just read a romance called "Paris is Always a Good Idea" by Nicolas Barreau. I usually avoid romance, but it was light at the end. I'll definitely be checking out his other two books.

My favourite colours are green and blue

I'm mostly into mystery/detective novels and I'm not sure if that's really your thing? hehe I'm gonna go ahead and recommend one of my favorite books ever— The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I'd say it's a pretty popular book as it has been adapted into a movie. You must definitely give it read if you haven't already! c:

My fav colors are aqua blue and black ^^

Happy Lumi and thank you for doing this~
