What a time of year to get sick! Drew thought. Right in the middle of Christmas preparations. His nose was red and puffy and his eyes weren't much better and they hurt when subjected to light. Thank Merlin for the dimness of the Slytherin common room. He had been to the infirmary and gotten a PepperUp potion, but while he waited for it to take affect, Drew snuggled down in a corner near the fire wearing his soft, cozy pj pants and one of his favorite Christmas shirts over a sweater. He was determined to stay in the holiday mood. Dodger had gone to beg treats, leaving Drew alone for the moment. The boy took out a silly sock puppet his younger sister, Bridget had given him. She'd named the thing Slither to tease him, but to keep his spirits up he'd decided to do a puppet show if anyone else happened to come in the room. Since it wouldn't do to show the potential audience how awful he looked, he disguised his eyes with some fun glasses. With his red, swollen nose, he already had a slightly owlish look and the glasses completed the look.

It all started last week at breakfast when the mail arrived. Lyn was absolutely delighted to see the latest package from Bewitched Chest of Spoils land in front of her. She had been especially looking forward to this month's theme of vintage candies and sweets. By night time, she had added a number of vintage wizard cards to her collection (who knew Chocolate Frogs had changed so much since the 90s) and enjoyed some discontinued Boogie Woogie jelly balls (how could they discontinue such a delicious treat?!?). Over the next few days Lyn noticed that her skin was starting to flake. She paid it no mind though. It was winter after all, dry skin, chills, and slight fevers were just another side effect of the constant exposure to the cold winter outside the castle walls. It wasn't until she walked into the common room the next morning that she started to question why she was seeing beams of light everywhere she walked... She decided a quick visit to the matron may solve her suddenly spotted vision, but as she waltzed into the Hospital Wing she practically blinded the poor woman.
