I mean, it's theoretically still possible for Congress to overrule the FCC vote (and I'm leaving the action link in my signature still) but even if they did, which is unlikely, the president can veto that. And realistically, unfortunately, the president would veto that.
Yeah, we should still speak up, by all means...but most importantly, EVERYONE NEEDS TO VOTE - next year and always! Voting in 2018 is super important if we're going to start to reverse this and all the other stupid things this administration has wrought any time soon.
It's incredibly unfair to put this on everyone, especially because the system has yet again disregarded the voices of millions of americans. I really hope this will wake up a lot of people. I'm not saying everything is wrong with the US president but the internet should be open to everyone. It's a tool to connect, learn, educate, explore, find a job and so on. That is a doom for a lot of smaller companies, artists and pretty much everyone relying on the internet to be known and be a bit more prosper.
This will affect a lot of other countries, Canada included. We rely on a lot of american websites/traffic to work and get our content. This is going to impact everyone even though the changes will be gradual if it passes the last stage. I hope it gets saved.
I cannot believe that this actually happened. I cannot believe they voted to actually get rid of it. I am really afraid other countries are going to think getting rid of net neutrality is a good idea now, we all know the influence America has on the rest of the world...
Oh, but it gets better!
Technically speaking, the entire vote was illegal since roughly 82% of Americans didn't want net neutrality repealed. Not to mention, there was fraud conducted in the process ranging from fake accounts to literally having dead people voting for the repeal which are now being investigated as fraud and identity theft. Pai - the one FCC dude - was paid over $100 million by his former employer, Verizon, to vote against net neutrality - can you say bribe money??
And people want to diminish this down to "Boohoo, the Millennials are crying that they won't have access to their social media."

Just one more thing wrong with 2017. Now every single time there's lag on subeta my mind automatically goes to 'oh it's net neutrality having been repealed' but I realize that's not how fast this repeal works. Scary to think what 2018 will bring. :X
