"Not really," Magnus said, "I like 'em all. Every term she picks another class at the community centre. its fun."
Zoe still had mixed feelings about the new position. "Thank ye, I guess," was all she could say. "I don't know... perhaps. I'm nee sure what this term will bring."
“He’s alright, gettin kinda fat I think.” (BitterLimeParakeet) He smirked at the curled up cat who thankfully either didn’t understand english, or was actually asleep and didn’t hear the crude comment. “Just gotta keep an eye on him, don’t be afraid to scold him if you need to.”
Nodding in agreement with Magnus, Fade tilted his head to one side. () “You know if it’s a sister or a brother?” He crossed his eyes as he asked. “Or maybe it’s a metta and could be a whatever.”
"Brother," Magnus said, "They've named him Tegan. Will be 'er 'round the 10th or something of December." He didn't look pleased.
“Seems right, you haven’t got one of those yet.” Fade smiled weakly in the wake of his friends frown. Giving Magnus a nudge he continued. “Not like they are guna love you less, and besides they will be so busy with the baby we will have lots more freedom to er… I mean we won’t be as monitored.” A fancy way of saying they could get into trouble without anyone noticing. ()
"Why would they want me when they'd have a perfectly normal son coming," Magnus said lowly. The thoughts of being unwanted or ignored where overwhelming. Still he gave a smile to Fade. "I'm sure we could put it to good use."
“Are you kidding me?” He knew Magnus was being very serious, but from the outside looking in Fade couldn’t believe his friend. “First of all, that’s ridiculous. Your mom and dad love you so much. It isn’t like they are replacing you. They just got too much love they need to spread it out a bit more or they’ll explode. You WANT THEM TO EXPLODE?” His brow creased. “Seriously dude. Get that thought outta your head. Besides, who says he’s guna be normal? And anyway, the little guy is guna need someone to show him how things are done. Your mom and dad are probably counting on you for that. BECAUSE they love you.” Fade was staring intently again. ()
Magnus listened to Fade with his eyes on the floor. His friend had a point--points that were mentioned by others as well. "But what if I loose control on me cycle. What if I 'urt 'im?"
“Alright, so that’s a possibility.” Being a werewolf was a very real part of Mag’s life, Fade knew better than to lie and say it wasn't. “But your parents aren’t dumb, they know you and your limits. I don’t see ‘em asking you to babysit on a fullmoon.” He gave his friend a soft nudge. “Not like you’re guna feel better about it overnight. But just trust ‘em OK? You can trust me and your other friend too you know.” ()
Magnus nodded. "Okay, I'll try. I-I'm just... I don't know." Then he looked up and smiled. "Thanks mate. Oh, guess what? I got a 'orse. He's a painted 'orse so I named 'im Jackson. He's beautiful. You can ride 'im when you come over. Or mum or dad's 'orse."
(( that was supposed to be “friends” but of course I didn’t catch it in time XD ))
“It’s alright, you are allowed to feel. I’m happy you told me.” At the mention of a horse Fade’s eyes went wide. “Lucky! I’ve never ridden one before. But I think my mom used to love ‘em. She has an old saddle in storage she thinks I’ve never seen.” Once again the floating unicorn toy resumed buzzing around their heads. “Of course this one's my first priority.” A swift snatch in the air and Fade pulled the stuffed toy to his chest to give it a hug. The he realized other people may have been watching and quickly released the plush. ()
"I'm 'appy you listened and all. 'Ey, well you'll just 'ave to come over and ride. Jackson's really sweet. And I got a really pretty riding instructor too." He giggled at the escaped toy and how Fade interacted with it. "Dad says we might convince a unicorn to let you ride it. You know, Merlin Pendragon? 'Is girl friend River, she's a new Gryffindor, well she loves unicorns too. And dragons."
“REALY?” Fade sort of jumped at the volume of his own exclamation. “I mean, that would be cool I guess. Or whatever.” He tried to act nonchalant but probably made it worse. “Pretty instructor you say? Interesting.” He narrowed his eyes at his friend playfully. “You’ll have to introduce us.” When Magnus said that River also loved unicorns Fade blushed and pressed his hands down. “Geez tell the entire room why don’t you.” He couldn’t help the nervous laugh. ()
"Guess you'll 'ave 'ave to come by then." Magnus laughed. "No, she's my eye candy. You 'ave Sauvage." Magnus tried to withhold the snicker. But he did lower his voice, "But everyone knows you like 'em and what's wrong with that?"
Fade quirked a brow. “What about Kat? You guys break up or something?” Maybe it wasn’t the best time to be bringing it up, but he couldn't help but ask. Maybe she was the instructor Mags had mentioned. “Eh…” Fade looked away. “I’m just not comfortable like, saying it or whatever…” He began fidgeting with the seams of his pants pockets. “Got made fun of a lot as a kid, kinda don’t want to give em a reason to like, start it up again.” Sure he was at a different school where most people were cool. But his past trauma was still close to his heart. Probably had something to do with how difficult it was for Fade to really trust anyone. ()
"Er not exactly, but things are a bit strained over the 'olidays," Magnus replied. "But still can't blame a guy for looking right?" He understood. He'd been made fun of before too. "Well I'll try not to say it so loudly okay. But I still think your super cool."
Fade was blushing furiously again, and tried to wave away Magnu’s compliment. “Naw, man. You’re way cooler. You’ve got a horse anyway. Not many people can say that.” Besides all that his friend was attractive, super talented, and had more friends than Fade could count on both hands. “All this talk of time off, and you got me thinkin I need to get my hands on a time turner or something.”
Chase yawned a toothy yawn and stretched by the fire. Rising from his curled position, the cat naughtily scratched the rug beneath him and strutted sleepily toward the boys. ()
