watching a music clip show on tv which is currently playing some song by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. i liked the previous song better but i didn't catch what it was.
i think i'll have to check out some more of their stuff! i love industrial so yay for another industrial fan ^^ oh man i suck at going music shopping XD i get lost looking for the bands i like in the right genres - i was surprised to find Nine Inch Nails in the Alternative section the last time i went browsing! i guess it makes sense for their newer stuff, but it just felt wrong somehow lol!

It was a lot harder back in the days before we could just start a personalized mix that'll occasionally serve up new, related stuff to try - we're so lucky now! I just bought a lot of random, cheap used CDs and figured at least I wasn't out too much if it wasn't great. I usually lucked out and found some pretty good stuff that way though! (My guidelines were if it was in German and/or had machines, robots, military vehicles or fire on the cover, it was probably going to be something I would like lol.)
I haven't bought a CD from a brick and mortar store in years though. I know the bands I like well enough to order their CDs online (even though I never play CDs anymore and just stream everything, but I want to support bands I really love, e.g. Rammstein, I collect all their stuff I possibly can, including the stupidly expensive books).
Stores have a lot of trouble categorizing industrial...there are so many variations within the genre too. Some is 100% electronic and super melodic and some doesn't use any conventional instruments at all and mainly seems to consist of a bunch of guys beating on stuff in an empty warehouse. I wouldn't know how to organize it either...I was always just kind of blown away if they even HAD the stuff I was looking for. XD

Wallander is on the tv in the background. it's interesting listening to foreign languages and hearing vaguely familiar words and matching them with the subtitles. yeah, i'm weird.
lol your cover art rule of thumb sounds like it'd be pretty accurate XD most of the new stuff i discover is when my sister asks me to put music on her mp3, so i have to rip it from her (massive) cd collection onto my laptop. eventually i get around to listening to some of it, loving it, then wondering why i didn't check it out sooner.
