I've been hearing some small critter in my apartment for days now.
Figured it was a mouse or something, and also figured my cats had no real idea what to do with a rodent in their home since they seemed thoroughly unperturbed by the thing's presence.
And then they caught it. Night before last, they managed to catch the stupid pest.
I thought they were playing with a toy, but no, it was a real, live mouse, not a fabric one filled with fluff.
In the minutes it took me to realize it was real and promptly freak out about what to do with it since I've no idea if anyone else in my building has poison down, they managed to let it escape.
Good news, I know I'm not just crazy and hearing things, and I know for certain it's just your average field mouse.
Bad news, I have to try to figure out how to end the damned thing without my cats being able to get into whatever I use because 1) they're too curious for their own good; 2) I'm absolutely terrified they'll catch it again themselves and it'll turn out to have been eating poison and, in turn, will poison them...
I really hate the idea of killing it, but I'm certain that if I don't, it'll just come back and cause me more grief, ugh...

My beau brought back a trap last night that he has experience with and that his culinary school used.
I'm hoping to catch to my resident pest soon so it'll stop keeping me up at night.

I saw a perfectly good hammer laying in the middle of the road on my way home from work yesterday but there was too much traffic to stop and grab it. I hope someone rescued it.
